METRO MANILA SHAKE DRILL
METRO MANILA SHAKE DRILL
------------------ JULY 3O, 2015 ------------------
On July 30, 10:30 AM, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, with multi-sector cooperation from schools, business, government agencies, and religious organizations, will be conducting a metro-wide Earthquake Drill. This will increase the metro’s chances of better recovery and implementation of contingencies in the event of earthquakes.
ANNOUNCEMENT of Chairman Tolentino during the Meeting
Everyone is at risk as this 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Metro-manila. Having this in mind, the MMDA is spreading a region-wide Metro-manila Shake Drill on 30 July 2015 at exactly 10:30 am.
Suggested in-house Earthquake drill for Churches and Mosques:
Life Safety: Drop, Cover and Hold and Building Evacuation
1. To participate in earthquake drill, there is a need to register your parish in the website as an official participantwith details on the number of participants and the focal person to lead the drill.
2. Announce the scheduled drill during the church services and bulletin boards inside the church premises which includes the following details; o Date and time of the Shake drill; o Role of each parishioners and church members and Clergy, mandated organizations. It is advisable that from these group, public safety officers may be designated; o How to correctly perform Duck, Cover and Hold position wherever they are.
3. Download from www.metromanilashakedrill.com a realistic earthquake sound effects ready to be played during the shakedrill.
4. Assign or delegate a Public Safety Officer to serve as a focal person for this activity. It is advised that such officer is regular church goers and who is familiar with the surroundings. The possibility of experiencing earthquake while on church will like be on a Sunday or during a day of worship.
5. Various church organizations with their leaders and all involved in Church activities should develop an earthquake evacuation and response plan in
