The purpose of the paper is to show how to develop and understand methodology of the research process that pertains to health care.   The process of how I will be retrieving for a peer-reviewed article, in which I will apply my own research of methodology to this article that I have Chosen.   The article selected for the research methodology is Childhood Obesity: A Global Public Health Crisis written by Sameera Karnik and Amar Kanekar written January 2012. Based on the information in the article I will help determine the methods of defining the problem, the purpose of the study, research questions, hypothesis, study variables, conceptual model, the review of related literature and the study design of the selected article.   Definition of Problem

The problem of the problem in the article is childhood obesity.   “Childhood obesity is a major public health crisis nationally and internationally” (Karnik & Kaneka, 2012, para. 1.) There are growing concerns for childhood obesity. This has brought such attention to a government level requiring action to help children to eat healthy and encourage more physical activity. One of the causes for childhood obesity is the imbalance among calorie intake and calories utilized.   Several factors such as genetics, behavioral and environmental are more likely to enhance the chances of childhood obesity.   Not only have the concerns for childhood obesity grown but the number of children suffering from obesity is continually rising. It is vitally important to educate parents and children on eating healthy have due to the substantial rise.   The determination to stop the rampant of obesity due to the long term effects such as children developing long-term illnesses.
