Merits And Demerits Of Studying Abroad
When a person's standard of living increases, he often thinks about improving his knowledge for a better life. To do that, he chooses to study in developed countries where he can get progressive education. However, everything has its advantages and disadvantages, and so studying abroad is not an exception.
First of all by moving to other country and leaving alone, he can gain more experience and broad-minded. It is because he gets the qualified education. Furthermore he can stand alone. Living away from home can also help him adjust to the transition of college and adulthood. It practices him to be independent. He will learn to be responsible and able to take decision by himself. Secondly, he is going to learn another language besides his mother language. He’ll have the benefit of force language speaking. Third, Studying abroad affords him the opportunity to make friends around the world. He can also learn about their culture and language. It will make him familiar with their language, and then he follows them to speak their language.
On the other hand studying abroad has many demerits. First, adapting to a new environment is a real challenge for every foreign student. While changing the weather can affect our health, different cultures and customs may influence our mind and make us become less confident or even a victim of discrimination. Every day may turn into a struggle for survival in a strange country. If he doesn't have enough physical and mental strength, he will fail to adjust himself in the new environment. As a result, he could neither study nor gain beautiful experiences as he has expected. Also, when he gets sick in other country, he will find some trouble. There’s no one take care of you. Secondly, studying abroad is often expensive. He has to pay not only for his education fees but also for our living cost. Therefore, finance may become the biggest problem. Consequently, it distracts our mind from studying to earning money.
