Mercutio Is To Blame For Romeo's Death
At the end of the play Romeo and Juliet are dead. Their death is the result of many different events and decisions. The Nurse for not telling Juliet’s parents what’s going on and that Juliet has fallen in love with a Montague. And even Juliet for being a young and naive teen for thinking what she is doing is the best thing for her situation.

But the most blamed would be Friar Laurence. Friar Laurence was the wise adviser to Romeo and Juliet. He kept all of their secrets and helped them be together. He married the two lovers knowing the consequences, but hoping the marriage would end the two families feud. He was the one who came up with the plane for Juliet to take a sleeping potion and be in a seemingly dead state for 42 hours. There are many claims as to who is responsible, but strong superstitions point to Friar Laurence, the cleric in Romeo and Juliet, as being responsible for their deaths. Throughout the play, Friar Laurence is seen whenever something goes wrong with Romeo or Juliet. For example, in Act 4, scene 1, when the prince exiled Romeo from Verona and Juliet was to marry Paris, she petitioned for help from Friar Laurence; otherwise, she would kill herself. In order to prevent Juliet from killing herself, Friar Laurence gave her a sleeping potion and assured Juliet that Romeo would know about their scheme. Shakespeare once wrote in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet “The dashing rocks thy seasick weary bark!/Here’s to my love! [drinks] O true apothecary!/Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die” (V.III. 118-120). Directly after saying this, Romeo takes a poison and dies in hopes that he will spend the rest of eternity with the one he loves--Juliet. Both Romeo and Juliet commit suicide because Romeo thinks Juliet had died so he takes his life for her, then when Juliet wakes up she takes her own life because Romeo has died. How our two star-crossed lovers died was never in question, but who is most to blame for their deaths, is. Many say that there are other people in the play that are to blame for their deaths. Juliet faked her death using a plan given to her, that is why it is Friar Laurence’s fault that Romeo and Juliet both killed themselves, and he is the one to blame.…
