Mental Health Counseling Personal Statement
Currently, I am admitted to my second year as a Master of Science (M.S.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling student, which prepares professional counselors to work in community agencies, educational settings, as well as private practice. As it is a CACREP accredited program, I will eventually be eligible to take the National Counselor Examination (NCE) leading to certification as a National Certified Counselors (NCC). The Clinical Mental Health Counseling program also prepares me to seek licensure as a Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Nevada. This program has many great benefits and is a great fit for my educational and professional goals, but one other area that I am interested in learning more about is research.
As a whole the counseling profession, is relatively new for the state of Nevada. There is a great need for mental health

I have been setting up meetings with different members of my faculty to start research projects related to mental health and substance abuse since these are my areas of interest. I am actively becoming more involved in doing research and presenting on behalf of UNLV. I am also becoming more interested in presenting for UNLV and will hopefully present some of my own research related to substance abuse next year at the Graduate and Professional Student Research Forum if you accept my application. This will be especially important since I want to not only get my masters degree, but also get certified in addiction studies. I believe this will increase my understanding of addictions further and give me more experience if I decide to pursue my doctoral degree in the future. I have an insatiable desire to learn as much as I can about mental health and I would be so incredibly grateful if I could receive any funding to help me on my professional journey. Lastly, thank you for considering me and taking the time to read my

My educational career from my freshman year at Saint Louis University High School although with some difficulties has in my opinion been a great success when I look back on it. My sophomore year was a bit easier now that I had adjusted to the normal homework, I still had a tough time but found a love for my history and English classes, I also found myself becoming more sociable compared to my grade school years. My junior year was likely my hardest year but I believe I learned the most about what I wanted to do in regards to a college degree in my Psychology class.…

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Dr. Piper as my faculty advisor. I had Dr. Piper as a professor for my first Argosy Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) course and was excited to meet with him in a nonacademic environment to discuss different aspects of becoming a mental health counselor. We coordinated convenient time and location for both of us to meet. The meeting was very informative and constructive for me. I was able to discuss my educational future and obtain a better understanding of CMHC process and how my tentative Argosy University CMHC educational plan correlated with the future trends of the counseling process.…

I have been planning my career for several years, but as an undergraduate I was undecided on which direction to go. I have always been interested in psychology and the study of human behaviour, particularly as it relates to mental illness. I did psychology both for A' Level and for my degree, and I particularly enjoyed the aspects of the courses relating to the understanding and treatment of mental illness. When I left university in 2007 with an upper second class degree, I did consider pursuing a career in clinical psychology but decided at that stage to pursue full-time employment instead of engaging in further studies. Having worked in an office environment for a number of years, I have realised that I would prefer to be working in a more rewarding role and I believe I can find this in mental health nursing. I have a passion to provide care and support to those with mental illness, to get them to better health, and a desire to help address the stigma that is still often attached to mental illness. I have had extensive discussions with two of my friends who have undertaken nursing degrees and feel I would be energised by the challenges of the role i.e. working long hours in a demanding setting, to tight deadlines, and in a constantly changing environment.…

Let me start this with my own definition of counseling. Counseling is a process wherein the counselor helps the individual to understand his or her problem and at the same time guide him or her through the process of learning to make good life decisions. On that process, many are to be considered by the counselor. I’m not in the practice of counseling but I…
