Mental Health Consultation
How can consultation be used as a primary mental health intervention? Secondary? Tertiary? Briefly define primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention and tell how consultation can be used as an intervention in each area. Reflect on your future (or current) career, how do you see the role of consultation fitting into your professional goals? There are different areas intervention targets. There are three known methods used for intervention. The three methods are informational, consultation, and direct. Consultation is a tool used to assist clients with mental health issues. Primary prevention is proactive in that it aims at enhancing the mental health of an unidentified group that is assumed to have positive mental health (Brown, Pryzwansky, …show more content…
An example of tertiary would be to work on any problems that may affect health. This is one of the last methods of intervention. Tertiary prevention program focus on health problems that comes from drug addiction or stress. Drug addiction and stress leads to health problem that can cause death or long term affects.
Each form of intervention has a purpose. Primary, secondary, and tertiary works on helping clients in a clients in a certain area. It also starts with the primary intervention and ends with tertiary intervention. Professional working to provide intervention use informational consultation, or the direct methods for intervention.
Consultation used for tertiary prevention provide treatment that can help with results of health treatments that can help with results of health issues: such as preventing health issues like high blood pressure.
