Memorible Moments

What is a memorable moment? It can be something that makes someone happy or sad. It is usually a big event that happens and you will never forget it. What was one of the most memorable moments in my life? One of my most memorable moments happened during my teenage years. However it was not a memory of a full day or even an hour. It was a mere second of realization. That mere second has affected how I view people, life and the world.
It was the summer before my freshman year of high school; my dad had plans to spend a week in the Bahamas for work. He decided that it would be a good opportunity to bring my older sister and me along with him and my mom. My dad has always felt it was important for me and my sister to experience different cultures and he would also plan for us to see lots of attractions after his work day was completed. The Bahamas was beautiful and more than I could ever imagine. The scenery, the art, and the food and people were all amazed and bemused me at the same time. Even after days of adventures the most memorable thing for me happened on our last day.
My family and I were in a taxi, traveling towards the airport to return home. I remember the traffic was heavy on the highway, and the cab had a distinct, musky scent. I was exhausted and enjoyed just listening to my dad and mother talk to the taxi driver. The taxi driver was young and spoke with such a strong Caribbean accent. He was conversing animatedly with my mother about the upcoming presidential campaign. When all of a sudden it hit me! This young man, a foreigner in a foreign country, knew more about American politics than I did. It was this exact moment that I realized how narrow minded I had been my whole life by choosing to ignore the events that were happen right in front of me. In school I had the opportunity to learn of affairs in my Latin American and Social courses. I heard stories of foreign places from my parents, but didn’t care because they were so alien to me and didn’t affect me directly. To be honest it was as if these things weren’t real.
Once I returned home, I made it my priority to open my eyes and ears and be willing and eager to learn about the current events that were happening around the world. I found interest in studying more about different cultures and people. I desired the passion my dad has always had to leave my hometown in the suburbs and explore the world. I love experiencing different cultures, exotic foods, meeting all kinds of people from diverse backgrounds. I love to learn and embrace new people and cultures. I know that mere second in that cab in Bermuda was a moment that I can truly be happy about. That moment was a life changing event that has allowed me to embrace new places and to learn so much about the world in which I am proud to live and be apart in.

Living in San Francisco with my mother and father was all I had ever known. There were several folks from Asia at my school and I even had classes with a few of them. My father woke me up and told me to come with him to the neighbor’s house since they had a radio. The Japanese had just bombed Pearl Harbor and the world was now a different place. While the war had been active in Europe for some time it seemed so far away and our lives were unaffected by the battles described in the newspaper and on the radio.…

One of the most memorable moments I have experienced was four years ago, when I traveled from Matamoros, Tamaulipas to San Antonio, Texas. I had the opportunity of visiting San Antonio for the first time, and more importantly, of spending time with my family who I had not seen in years prior to the trip. Spending time with my family is of great value and importance to me, so I became utterly excited to see them as soon as I had the chance.…

We drove down in separate cars from Kentucky enduring about thirteen long hours of “fun” with my immediate family. We finally arrive in animal kingdom where we are staying in one of the Disney hotels. We get to our room and get settled in when I look out on the balcony and see giraffes, and antelopes, and peacocks walking around in my back yard. It was one of my favorite parts of this trip. We then go out to wait for the bus to take us to our first kingdom, epcot. I remember immediately being here as a child and know exactly what I want to go and do and see. Now being seventeen, I take one of my cousins and we go off on our own to see what we want to experience. We go to the science museum and learn about space and evolution which has through my high school years been very beneficial to me. Having fun and learning at the same time was great. I spend the entire next day going around to all the rides and enjoying them at least two times each. I couldn’t believe how much fun I was having. After that I went to the stores and got all the things I wanted to take back home to remember this trip…

There once was a time that I went to cabo San Lucas Mexico with my family. The reason that this trip was so special too was because I got to spend a whole week with my grandparents, aunts and uncles and most importantly my parents. When we first got we went to are rooms and put are thing down then went right down to the pool. I can still remember the way the pool look and felt because I got cut on one of the tiles in the pool. One there reasons I liked the pool so much is you could just sit there and watch the sun set. Then the next day I went fishing on the beach that was so cool casting out a fishing line and sitting there waiting with family there beaches are so beautiful and nice like the ones you see in TV commercials. I haven’t even got to the best part they have a little cruise called sunset cruise. You rode on a pirate ship and watch people fight and watch the sun go down. I was a lot like the movie call peter pan. This little cruise was so special because in a hurry and I got locked out of my room I forgot to wear shoes so I was without shoes that whole night. There is one restraints that you have to go to when you are there I mean they have unreal food. They have huge tacos filled with anything you want with beans, rice and a side salad. I can taste it now. I also remember the time I went with my grandparents to the beach after the sun went down with one of my uncles. You have experienced nothing until that happened I mean the sand nice and cold between your toes swimming in the ocean you feel so free and wild. That is why cabo San Lucas Mexico is so special to me. I have a lot of good memories there with my…

It was a scorching summer day in Las Vegas and my dad and I were meandering around the city in awe of the size of everything. We were acutely aware that we had overdressed for the weather, having just left a chilly Illinois. It was the hottest place to which I had ever been. The both of us, father and son, were going to meet up with my grandpa to go to the Grand Canyon for one of the greatest trips ever. We were going white water rafting on the Colorado River for eight days.…

The word “Mỹ” (America) would strike up interest to ears around. America was portrayed as the land of freedom and riches. It is everyone’s dream to go to there and just sniff the grass from the vast acres of land. That was their dream not mine. The news dropped like a bomb on me. Everyone kept congratulating me and telling me that I was very lucky to have that opportunity. On the plane, I sat and counted every hour it took to get to the big, unknown, land. 73 hours if I remembered correctly.…

The first beach we went to was so cool, it was the coolest beach I have ever seen. There was a lot of surfers there, they were all super good at surfing. We stayed and watched them surf for a while but what we weren’t noticing was the waves. My brother and I were on the sand and since we were looking at the surfers this huge wave comes and gets us entirely wet, which technically we got wet without haven’t even gotten in the water. We went to another beach after that and I was called Baby Beach. We got there and I practically noticed why it was called Baby Beach, there was literally little kids everywhere and the water was not even deep. We still got in but it wasn’t so fun, well obviously the water went deeper but there was a rope that was to say that “the water drops when you pass this.” We had a barbecue later on that night, with the entire family and it was yummy. There is nothing better than home cooked family meals. We were all tired so we went back the hotel and it was time to lay our heads on the pillows. The next day we practically spent the entire day sightseeing again and later that night it was time to head off back to Arizona. It sucked that we had to leave but it had to happen that way. The trip back seemed like it took longer than coming to…
