Memorable Day
This incident dates back to my School Days.
I could hear a voice faintly, a familiar voice, someone yelling at me to wake up and get ready for school. It continued for 5 minutes with the volume increasing gradually that I realized

it's my Father. The chill weather, the warm blanket and the bluish sky comforted me like a princess. My eyes refused to open more than 5 degress. I kept seeing the clock every 5

minutes to see if it was 7. I would keep reminding myself, "6:55 is when you have to get up". Surprisingly everytime I close my eyes at 6:50 AM with a belief to wake up at 6:55 AM, the

clock would tick 7:00 and I would jump out of the bed hearing the school siren ring.

It was a big day for me. The C.C.A (Co-curricular Activities) results were going to be announced. The Vice Captain of Red House( that was me) prayed longer that day hoping to receive

the shield.
I was ready in 20 minutes, neat and fresh, pinned my badge "Vice Captain" to the left of my uniform and rushed to my school. It was 7:25 AM. Time for prayer.

I stood in the second row behind the Captain, firm and steady.
Behind me, were 4 rows of Prefects and behind them stood 400 people.

The School Captain shouted loud:

"Stand at ease", "Attention", "Stand at ease"
Command!

I could feel the moment coming close, a strange feeling down my stomach, with the teachers, principal and all the students waiting for the final scores. The air was filled with curiosity

and tension.

John Sir, our English lecturer( My favourite) came on stage to begin the ceremony and announce the results. The students of different houses went on stage to receive prizes and so did

I, to receive mine for bagging first in Group Dance and 3rd in Essay Writing.

The scores had to be announced and I prayed like never before. All I kept repeating was, "The rolling trophy goes to Red House, The rolling trophy goes to...."

The 3rd prize was announced, there was a roar and cry. It wasn't us but

It’s a feeling that is so indescribable even I can’t put into words how you feel. The day of the competition had finally arrived and even though my team was prepared, we felt anything but that. All we wanted to do was our best and hit a clean routine and make our coaches proud. Of course we wanted to defeat our rival, but that isn’t something you can have a mind set about. Right before we went on, we always have a group huddle filled with encouraging words and prayer. Once we hit the stage it was muscle memory. The enormous stage lights and screaming crowd was motivation for us. It’s like we were home. To say we did great was an understatement, we not only executed everything perfectly, we performed the cleanest routine we have done the entire year. Our hearts were so full of joy after hitting our last motion. The minute the music ended we all jumped for joy on the competition floor knowing we had done everything to our best potential. Awards arrived and of course, us and our rival team held the top two spots. The agony from waiting was nerve-wracking. The announcer finally got to announcing the second place team - our rival. We had done it. My team had yet another national championship title under our belts. They announced us as the national champions and we would be taking home jackets and a full-paid bid to Amazing, a competition for only the top in the state. My teammates and I were ecstatic about the victory, but also so blessed to have won it with our family.…

The final person turned in their scorecard and saw that I won 1st in every category. I defined drive, chip and putt by being the best at all of those in my category. I was so, so, so happy, they said Santiago Arredondo and that was probably my favorite time someone said my name. I was going through all the things I just did and how crazy that was that on my very first drive, chip and putt that I just flawlessly won. Everyone was amazed and was congratulating me, and my dad was ecstatic.…

Beep! We all dread that early morning alarm that goes off to tell us it’s time to get ready for school. We wish we could just go back to sleep and carry on with our day later, but we know that time won’t wait for us. Most schools start earlier in the morning, sometime in between seven or eight o’clock. Some people think that this is too early and that school needs to start later, whereas some feel that it is fine at the time it now starts.…

I called my father who only made it to the fifth street railroad crossing, he came speeding back to my sister’s house. He tells it with a little flare with the train gates coming down as he drove like a bandit to get to my house. Once he got to Megg’s house he ran inside to see the little bugger whom he calls Mike. As I sit in class, listening to the teacher ramble on about the topic. Not really paying attention, I keep looking up at the clock waiting for the bell to ring. Nerves are building in my stomach as I start thinking about tonight. The bell rings and the students rush to gather their things and leave. I walk out into the crowded hallway as people are leaving school. As I walk outside I become blinded by the light as if I had been in a cave. I hear the roar of trucks as country boys rev up their engines. I see the “cool” kids sitting in their cars as they light up cigarettes. All the parents that pick up their child, shaking their head in disappointment. I open the door to the football locker room and immediately become overwhelmed by the smell of sweaty…

After a deep, long, refreshing sleep, my eyes rapidly uncover to see the dark ceiling. I’ve never felt this awake and alert before. My eyes look up and see the fan spinning rapidly, unable to see each individual blade. I feel the cool, fresh, crisp air hit my cold face from the fan. Beneath my face, my body is warm and cozy under the covers. It’s almost like being in a sleeping bag in the middle of Antarctica, and not wanting to get out. I hear a loud obnoxious sound, I flinch, and look over at my alarm likes it a villain from a movie. I reach to turn it off, and think. It’s the first day of school.…
