Memoir Of A Baseball Player
The names Kendrick, Austin Kendrick. I’m thirteen at the moment and my favorite thing to do or play is baseball. I’ve been playing baseball all my life and it’s gone in the family for many years. I was born in January 20, 2003. My mom and dad aren’t together anymore and split when i was about six years old. I have many other hobbies like riding my dirtbike, playing video games, and listening to music on my Beats pill.

Well, you can say i’m a kid of entertainment, but the hobbies I have are extreme and sometimes boring. I’m pretty good at baseball and I can hit pretty hard. The coaches in my county beg the coach who already picked me to be on their team, and sometimes pay the other coaches for me. I don’t think i’m the best because

Since I was 7 years old, I have always participated in Greenwich’s very own Cardinal Baseball Camp. However, until last summer, I had always been one of the campers. This year I was an official volunteer of the camp. Everyday from 8 a.m. till 12 p.m., me and approximately 30 other staff members at the camp would teach young kids how to play baseball. This camp is run very locally, and it is very personalized, something that should truly be valued in a large town like Greenwich. Although not perfect, this is the best camp in town, and it will continue to stay that way as it continues to improve itself. The Greenwich Cardinal Baseball Camp is a very effective place for kids to go and not only learn the game of baseball, but meet new friends,…

For my roaring 20’s project I researched Babe Ruth. Babe Ruth was an important figure in the 1920’s. Baseball players still talk about him even today! Babe Ruth is considered the greatest baseball player of all time and one of the most iconic. He holds many records including highest on base percentage and highest slugging percentage. He held the most home runs hit all-time until 1974.…

Hank Aaron. He changes from hating that he was black to moving on and concentrating on baseball. The letters still hurt him but he learned to just play baseball and not to think about the bad fans or letters. By learning how to do that, he is able to play better baseball and he was able to make better records and make more money. And after black people were granted human rights and treated equally, he was a hero to the fans and the black people. He was a normal sized man that could use his wrists very well when hitting making him able to send balls very far and strong. He was very determined on hitting doubles, triples and homeruns instead of singles because he believed that total base hits was an important record. He impressed the scouts in any way. If the scout wanted to see him steal bases, he would steal bases. And if they were done looking at his batting and wanted to see amazing fielding that’s what he would show them. He was obviously good at baseball but lots of baseball fans and teams turned him down until he actually got the chance to play. He would go on the field and play just like he did in the Negro Leagues and impress the fans and manager. They say that if black people played earlier they could have made very good legends just like Jackie Robinson and Hank Aaron.…

The following morning, I skip bike practice again, but Doris goes anyway. At the office, Megan caters to me. On her way in, she stopped at Trader Joe’s to buy me a protein drink with antioxidants from Trader Joe’s, a bottle of chewable Vitamin C and a whole grain carrot muffin. I drink half the bottle and listen as she tells me, “Thom cancelled the development meeting, since he met with you the other day.”…

My dad has been a baseball fan for as long as I can remember. When 1:20 rolls around on Sunday afternoons, the television is declared my dad's for the mandatory Cubs game. Granted we weren’t obligated to watch the game, however, my older brother and I occasionally stuck around to watch. Overtime, this television snatching turned into an annoyance, most games are over three hours long, which greatly cut into my precious TV time on the weekends. I grew to hate the game because I found it long, boring, and filled with little action. Also, the only games my family watched were Cubs games and the Cubs have sucked since 1908. But like every good relationship it takes time for a bond to…

“GET HOME!!! GET HOME!!!” Those were the words my dad would yell from the third base coach’s box as I passed him rounding third! Baseball to me is more than just a game! Baseball is a passion, fueled by the desire to succeed, the passion to overcome, and the dedication to be great. A baseball field to me is like a stage is to a dancer or an open road for a biker; I just love every aspect of this amazing sport. It’s the field with its seemingly unfair depth, its soft green grass and the infamous red dirt, that make me have the passion for the game like my father did as a child. My life seemed to be limitless when I was in between that fence. Taking cuts on the tee, putting together a pickup game that didn’t matter who won or lost, or even on those days that practice seemed to never end, I still had the love for the game.…

Yeah people might think I’m good at baseball but nobody knows what I had to go through to get where I am today. It took me sometime to realize baseball was more than just a hobby and I'm glad I did. Without the change I wouldn't be the same athlete I am today. Today I look back on myself as the same athlete I am today even though I take baseball more seriously it's still a game it's just played differently and takes a whole lot more to continue on and play at the next level. Baseball is more than a passion, it's a…

This is probably the part where you see someone put a cliché quote that inspires them, but I’m going to jump right into this. The value of failure is something you should learn in life, because failure can teach you a new mentality to do things, like working hard and trying to get better or quitting because someone can’t deal with failure.…

The dorky, round glasses settled crookedly on my face, and my poor fashion sense gave the impression of an athletic misfit. Being the smallest, most awkward student in school never had any advantages. I felt my life was full of challenges, and thus, I had to strive to prove my small stature did not hinder me in the slightest. I struggled throughout my younger years to find a sport that suited me but I finally decided to dedicate myself to the pursuit of playing college softball.…
