Meet Hephaestus Cheating

Meet Hephaestus! The only god whose flaws aren't in his personality, but in his body instead. Hephaestus was a unique god, born imperfect; however, he has the best personality out of most of the other gods. Hephaestus was borne by Hera, but not with Zeus. Hera cheated on Zeus to get revenge for all the times he cheated on her. Although Hephaestus was borne by Hera, a beautiful goddess, he was born ugly, imperfect, unlike all the other gods or goddesses, who were all born perfect. Because he was born ugly, Hera threw him off Olympus to avoid laughter of conceiving an ugly child. His body was not perfect, thus he was considered “ugly” among the gods. Hephaestus was disrespected, dishonored, disliked, yet kind. He was Hera’s child, yet not Zeus’s. Hera cheated on Zeus to get revenge on him for cheating on him so many times before. However; Hera’s plan backfired, because when she created Hephaestus, he was ugly. He was not born perfect like every other god, or child of a god. Hera was ashamed, and thus so threw Hephaestus off Olympus, ordering her daughter, Athena, to keep him from coming back. He landed in the ocean near where the Oceanids dwell. They found and raised Hephaestus. Eventually, he became the smithing god. More specifically, he learned how to control fire, allowed the coming of metalworking, masonry, and he ruled all the forges. All together, he is a smithing god. Hephaestus’s symbol is a hammer. Although he has many symbols, like an anvil, the hammer is his main symbol. Just like all the other gods, Hephaestus doesn't only have a greek name. Romans named the gods after stars and planets.
