| Medical assistant is multi-skilled health professional who offers administrative, clerical and technical support to the physician. Medical assistant provides services for front office, back office and other clinical laboratory areas. Medical assisting is a versatile career for men and women. Medical assistant provides services in the offices of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors and other health patricians to work smoothly. Medical assistants are not like physician assistants who diagnose and treat patients under direct control of physician. Duties of medical assistants depend on the specialty of practitioner. Medical assistants work under the control of department administrator. When I graduated I want to work at Duke hospital as a medical assistant.Clinic Description Clinic 2F/2G is a fast paced pulmonary clinic with a critical patient population that challenges staff to provide the most proficient nursing care. Nursing staff would also have the opportunity to learn additional skills by cross training with the cardiology population. Position Features: Mondays – Friday 8 hours day shifts. No weekends, holidays or on call requirements Occupation: Summary Perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure office runs smoothly. Work Performed Administrative duties may include but not limited to the following: Answer telephones Greet patients Update and file patient medical records Fill out insurance forms Handle Correspondence Schedule appointments. Arrange for hospital admissions Arrange for laboratory services Handle billing and bookkeeping. Perform other administrative duties as directed.
