Mediation Styles Of Parents Essay

The research was conducted to determine the mediation styles of parents when it comes to the Internet use of their children. The study also analyzed the reasons of the children on why they use the Internet and the needs it gratify. The respondents, both the parents and children, are residents of Zone Five Cainta Greenpark Village Cainta, Rizal. The adolescent participants, ages 10 to 19, are currently enrolled in school. There are mainly three uses of Internet to the participants. First, the Internet is widely used by the participants for educational purposes. There respondents being students would naturally seek help in the Internet to accomplish their school tasks. The Internet contains vast information and made acquiring data easier and within reach. Second, entertainment’s another reason why the participants surf the Internet. The capability on the Internet to incorporate multimedia, which appeals to the different senses, makes the content much
They explain, discuss, interpret, and evaluate the content that the child is viewing. According to the interviewed parents/guardians, they are aware of the different dangers that their child/ren may be exposed to when using the Internet. There is a need for them to safeguard their children against these online dangers. There are parents/guardians who strictly impose rules on what sites and content their child may and may not view. Time limit is also essential because some parents see that the Internet is a form of distraction to children in their studies. Meanwhile, there are also parents who set rules but fail to implement them, thus, defeating the purpose of having regulations. Lastly, a parent said that she does not set any rules or involve herself when her child use the Internet justifying this action as a form of trust to her
