Topic : Introduction of e-Business & e-Commerce

Please prepare a powerpoint presentation to provide the solutions for the following Questions:

1) Advantages and disadvantages of Electronic Commerce

a) Using one or more e-commerce sites as example(s), illustrate the advantages of e-commerce which contribute to the success of these e-commerce sites from both seller and buyer point of view.
b) Discuss some disadvantages of e-commerce that may have prevented businesses from going online.

2) Case Study : Amazon.com (Refer to page 45-47 of textbook)

a) Briefly summarise the background of Amazon.com from the case study.
b) Refer to Qu (1) - Summarise (in point form) the arguments from both Amazon and Toys R Us and conclude what you believe the outcome should have been and why.
c) Refer to Qu (2) - Outline the advantages and disadvantages that Amazon.com would have considered before it made the agreement with Toys R Us to limit competing toy sales.
d) Refer to Qu (3) - Outline specific recommendations to Amazon.com for negotiating a settlement with Toys R Us that would benefit both companies.

3) Case Study : Hal’s Woodworking (Refer to page 48 of textbook)

a) Briefly summarise the background of Hal’s Woodworking online business.
b) Conduct a SWOT analysis for Hal’s Woodworking online business. You can use the information in the case narrative, your personal knowledge of the retail hardware industry, or doing independent searches of the Web as you conduct your analysis. You should create a diagram similar to Figure 1-12 to summarize your SWOT analysis results.
c) Based on your SWOT analysis, make recommendations for Hal’s WW (based on your assumptions, if any), addressing the content their Web site should include, the features that Hal’s WW should make available on the site, and how Hal’s WW might overcome any of the weaknesses or threats you identified in the SWOT analysis.
