Mean One Mr Grinch Analysis
There always seems to be a person, who is just plain mean, and picks on everyone in his way. In the book Under the Dome by Stephen King, James Rennie, known as “Junior” is this bully. The song I chose to describe Junior You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch, written by Dr. Seuss. The Grinch and Junior share many common traits, and are both not very friendly people. Junior however, may be a bit more violent than The Grinch, as so far he has been responsible for multiple deaths in the book, including two girls who had “bullied” him in school before the dome days. Many people simply would avoid Junior, other than his friends. People would also avoid the Grinch, as he was quite a nasty person.“I wouldn’t touch you with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole!” …show more content…
He cares about his two girls more than anything else in the whole world. The song Bridge Over Troubled Water relates very closely to Rusty. The song itself is very light, and has a lot of emotion in the lyrics. This is exactly how Rusty treats his two daughters. He always cares for them, and helps them when they are in need. “When evening falls so hard, I will comfort you” (Simon). This quote is very relatable to Rusty, as he always comforts his girls when times are tough, especially at night, when they have had problems in the book. Not only is he very caring to his daughters, but he loves his wife just as much. They do not see each other much at home, as both are busy at work, however they write each other notes and work together to run the household. You could say Rusty is a protective father bear for his family and he protects his cubs. :) (metaphor) The song also talks about how Simon will ease a person’s mind. Rusty is also very good at relaxing people, as seen when he took care of his daughters early in the story. “It doesn’t matter, Rusty said hugging Jan close. It wasn’t your fault” (King 172). This was Rusty’s response to her daughter Jan’s health incident. He was able to calm her down so she could get back to bed. Rusty is simply a great father, and loves and cares for his family with an overwhelming passion. Being able to placate his family’s needs, and being very caring make Rusty a great parent, and one who is always there as in Bridge Over Troubled

One of the themes for the movie, A River Runs Through It, deals with the affection in a family. In my opinion, it shows we should watch out for our loved ones. When things go wrong we should help and support our family members. I notice it was something that brought the minister and his two sons together. The two brothers learned as young boys that their father was worthy of respect and could teach them many things, not just about fishing, but about life as well. The movie shows Norman looking out for his brother, Paul, and he tries to keep him away from trouble. The two boys grew up loving to fly fish and the information they received when they were young helped them become better at fishing and also better in…

This movie stars Ferris Bueller, a sickening high school student who feels that he doesn't want to go to school that day so he decides to fake being sick to fool his parents into letting him stay home. His parents are nice and caring people who would never think that their son would lie and believe his horrible sick acting. He gets his girlfriend Sloan Peterson out of school by calling in to falsely report that one of her family members had died. He also gets his friend Cameron, who actually is sick, to join him and Sloan for a day in Chicago before they go off to different colleges. His parents were very misleading, although it was mainly his mother. His siblings also set bad examples for him and one even shut him out of her life! When he was a child, his mother and father quit being rodeo performers and his mother turned to alcohol. His parents fought to the point of divorce and his mom ran off with him and his siblings to San Francisco. This was very bad for him both psychologically and physically. His mother ordered their school teachers to never allow his dad to come and see them, but he still managed to, occasionally, and even though Perry’s mom told her children not to speak to their father, most of them minded, but Perry did not. He favored his father and this often caused him to run away from home in search for his dad. He hated his mother for being an alcoholic who gave herself away for money and could barely support the family, which is why the children ended up in an orphanage. After becoming sick in the Salvation Army shelter from the woman that tried to drown him, his father finally took him away to live with him, but their lives together were not easy. His relationship with his parents was a bit strained, but if that was not bad enough, he seems to believe there is something wrong with his family because of the way they have died, like a curse. “I think there must be something wrong with us,” Perry observes, and the…

If one had to portray a bully, John’s character perfectly sets the mould for it. He is instantly hated by the entire group the moment he starts speaking to them because of his general attitude towards everyone. He shows no respect for authority as he starts destroying school property the moment he steps foot into the class room. He has an air of reckless carelessness about him which he portrays through his body language and attire. He makes it very clear to everyone present that he is not looking to make any friends and begins to berate and pick on Claire’s character, whom he has feelings for.…

One aspect of the human condition in the story “Sucker” by Carson McCullers shows how treating people poorly has negative effects on everyone. One major way of treating people poorly is bullying. The web page “stopbullying.gov” tells what bullying is. “Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Both kids `who are bullied and who bully others may have serious, lasting problems.”…

Geertz, Geertz, Geertz… The man I would like to be in his shoes!!! What a lucky man!!! Without having any idea what he want to do with his life; ending up at Harvard and as a bonus had a trip to tropical islands of Indonesia. I have tried my best to focus and understand his ideas, after I read that very first chapter on the ‘Available Light’ in which he reflects how clueless he was and how he turned out an eminent anthropologist! I had really big struggle to read him, maybe my subconscious mind does not have a tolerance that much luck or something is off for me to let his ideas wash over me. I even searched for a book “Geertz for Dummies”. Any time I read his piece, I ended up with headache. I am not exaggerating! Anyway, it is not my place to throw him away, after all he proved himself in the area.…
