Human Rights: Discrimination and vulnerable groups
McDonalds does not discriminate against the vulnerable groups. McDonalds give many working chance to the vulnerable groups in order to accept and help them to be the part of the society.
Labor practices:
McDonalds dose provide safety workplace to the employees.
McDonalds should also give enough resting time to the employees to ensure they will not be too tired and not affect the employees’ health.
Environment:
McDonald practices to reduce, reuse and recycle in the restaurants.
REDUCE: BY changing most of the foam packaging to paper, McDonald has reduced the waste by 80%.
REUSE: McDonald utilizes reusable materials whenever feasible, as long as they do not compromise the safety and hygiene standards.
RECYCLE:
PAPER: McDonald is one of the major users of recycled paper products in Hong Kong. They use corrugated cardboard boxes made with recycled content.
PACKAGING: Much of McDonald’s packaging is from recycled material. McDonald does not use any CFC’s as a blowing foam agent.
OTHER: Recycled materials are also used to make in-store trays.
AIR:
To keep the surrounding environment clean, McDonald’s restaurants in Hong Kong use electrostatic precipitators to remove airborne grease from the kitchen exhausts. In addition, exhaust outlets are properly located to prevent nuisance.
Converting waste oil into useable energy:
In collaboration with a waste oil recycling company approved by the environmental protection department, McDonald’s converts waste oil arising form the daily operations of the restaurants into useable energy such as biodiesel. This solution ensures the waste oil does not pollute the environment and helps McDonald contribute to a greener future.
