Maze Runner And Lord Of The Flies Comparison Essay

Have you and a friend ever been put in a situation separately at different times in your lives, but you both handled the situation very similarly? Lord of the Flies by Wiliam Golding and The Maze Runner by James Dashner put the characters into very similar situations that were resolved similarly, but the stories also contained several differences. In the novel Lord of the Flies a large group of boys crash landed onto an island with having no way to get off the island during the Second World War. The community that the boys create on the island started off a a civil community that had order, but as time went on the boys grew more and more rebellious to the social standards they created in the beginning since there was no rules keeping them …show more content…
In Lord of the Flies, the boys started to rebel against the system they had created so that they could have more fun and do whatever they please, but under the leadership of Jack instead of Ralph. Also, in The Maze Runner the government was crumbling after Alby, their main leader, was stung by a Griever and the people started listening and believing Gally when he said that all their problems were all Thomas's fault. Ralph too was weighed down with the accusations that many problems started with him. Each story created a dynamic character, Piggy in Lord of the Flies and Chuck from The Maze Runner, that would be considered heavyset, and they were created to be very attractive to readers. After going through the entire story of really caring for both characters, right at the end of the novels Wiliam Golding decides to have Piggy get killed when trying to help Ralph keep order and John Grisham makes the decision to have Chuck killed for protecting Thomas. Even two stories that contain several similarities and differences have very similar endings no matter what time period they are set
