Have you ever seen someone somewhere and said, “Where do I know that person from?” On September 23, 2010, my classmates and I attended a Huntsville City Council regular meeting held in the City Council Chambers. I expected to see businessmen, politicians and other white-collar individuals from around the city. I expected to be bored and not hear anything interesting. One thing I learned very early was always judge first-hand.…

It’s just that one man can put such a bad reputation on an entire religion and country. Aamir the boy my best friend dated would always tell me stories how if his family and him would go to the airport they were always ones to get selected to go to private searching’s which is completely unfair just because of his religion. Now imagine yourself in that situation being selected out of everyone to go to a private room for searching because you’re a Muslim, I would be absolutely irritated and annoyed and quite frankly embarrassed. Unfortunately we live in a world today that everyone is so judged and stereo typed that we make assumptions about a person before we even get to know them. For example if you saw a kid walking down the street wearing all black and had a arm sleeve of tattoos and a bunch of piercings one would assume he is a punk yet we know nothing about that person and that’s how the Muslim culture is in todays…

While watching the video featuring Zak Ebrahim, he explained what it was like growing up as the son of a terrorist. Ebrahim, elaborated on his day to day activities from shooting guns with his father to being bullied at school. While continuing with the speech, Ebrahim explains how he began to understand that not all people should be hated strictly because of their race or religion. You would think that the audience of the speech would have a hard time listening to Ebrahim, do to his father claiming American lives during acts of terrorism, and the personal bias that may be present itself in the audience. Through the use of effective listening a person may be more open minded to the opinions of others, by switching from set ways of thinking, to relating to the other person’s side of reason.…

Khizr Khan starts of with saying that he is a “...devoted, patriotic American, and a Muslim.” After stating what loss him and his wife had gone through, he publicly called out Donald Trump. One of Trump’s major goal is to block off immigrants, especially muslims, from entering the United States. Trump fails to recognize that immigrants greatly contribute to the society of America and the United States as a whole. Khan continues to ask a very controversial question to Donald Trump. Khan says, “Let me ask you, have you even read the United States Constitution?” as he pulls out a copy of the document from his jacket pocket. He then followed up the question by saying, “I will gladly lend you my copy...look for the words liberty, and equal protection of law.” By saying this, he opens people's eyes to make them aware of the image that Donald Trump is attacking muslims, more clear. Khan blatantly reminds viewers that patriots who risk their entire lives and would die for America “...come in all genders, faiths, and…
