How have different people created calendars to reflect time within their cultures? Well since many researchers have discovered many different types of calendars throughout time and been used differently than other due to culture or belief. The three most popular calendars are the Mayan calendar and the Eygtian Calendars (Source 1). The Egyptian Calendar has been around for many years and was used to count the days in the years. As our calendar we have 365 days in a year, the Egyptian calendar has 354 days in a year (source 1) this means they had fewer days in a year than we do now in our modern day calendar. The Mayan calendar gained popular due to the fact that of Hollywood movies and myth (source 3). There was a rumor that spread around the that the world was going to end on December 12, 2012, because it was the end of the Mayan calendar (source 3). This gained so much popularity that people actually believed the myth and was frightened. The Mayan calendar is very important because it was the oldest calendar ever to be discovered. This calendar goes back hundreds of years, many want to know what was life like hundreds of years ago and some of the cultures that were started with the Mayan are still being practiced today.
