Maya Angelou's Life
The documentary about Maya Angelou's life has brought understanding, and happiness to many people from around the world. Maya’s documentary focuses on her accomplishments, and struggles throughout her life as an African-American women. Maya was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1928. Growing up, Maya and her brother, Bailey, lived with their grandmother in Stamps, Arkansas, but soon went back to Missouri to take care of their mother. As Maya was taking care of her mother in Missouri, she was abused and raped by her mother’s boyfriend, Mr. Freeman. It became harder for Maya to speak about the situation, ultimately making her mute, leading her and her brother to be sent back to live with their grandmother once again. Maya become more comfortable
