Math Classes In High School
I'm not going to lie, there are some classes where I'm just not as strong in. One of these classes is math, what a surprise. But just because I'm not as strong in this subject, it doesn't mean that I'm bad at it. Actually, for quite a while in high school, I would get straight A's. Even .while taking college level math, I wouldn't get bad grades. However it's not easy. It's always math class that has to give homework during breaks and every single school day. So because of this it takes a lot of my time. Plus, there's just so much to learn and not enough time. It's like other classes, we have a brief explanation and examples and then we're forced to regurgitate what we remember during the test. That's what many classes seem like, just remembering certain things for a brief time period so you won't do as bad on the test. Since there isn't enough time, I always …show more content…
Don't get me wrong I actually really like chemistry because it's a branch from science, but like math there is just so much to cover. It's a lot to take in and can be quite confusing. Like math, I end up looking for help online but not as often. However, I especially try to learn the materials as best as I can because it is essential to becoming a pharmacist, which is my dream career. Unlike math, our grade isn't just determined by what we get on the tests, but also on some experiments. Even so, tests still make up most of our grade. To add, it's not really hands on. I was expecting a lot more experiments to understand more of how chemicals interact with each other. I have noticed that I learn things a bit faster if it's more hands on. Unfortunately, most of the material is on paper and it gets confusing at times. Additionally, the teacher always seems to throw a complex question on the tests that always throws me off. I find to do better on the tests when I do all of my homework. This also allows me to redo a test that I may not have gotten a good

On the other hand I was extremely determined to pass this class. I tried staying after school to ask my teacher for help and every time he would say he was busy or he would tell to ask the students in my class, so I tried asking other math teachers for help and they couldn't even understand the way my teacher was teaching. To address this issue, I went to my math III teacher and asked him for help in not only preparing for his exam, but also on how to master the concepts. In my mind, I had to become a master of the concepts because I believed his class is an integral stepping stone to future math classes I hope to take in college. He told me review old notes from the beginning of the semester and to spend a few hours tutoring my classmates. I reviewed class notes, searched Google for supporting lessons, and even asked a sibling to study with me. But, I wanted to do more. I stayed after school with my math III teacher for guided study time. My teacher was amazed by how I stayed after school every day (even Friday’s) to review notes. He told me that he was very proud of my work ethic and commitment to excel. I was surprised that he realized my hard work and saw how determined I was.…

There is a common myth that high school is an established educational institute set out to deprive you of a social life and your hair before the age of 18 due to its curriculum and demanding courses .This is in fact is one of the biggest disclaimers you'll hear surrounding any high school. In reality, the academic aspect of high school is quite frankly the easiest obstacle to overcome. Although seemingly hard, for the majority of my academic classes this year I've easily adapted and have progressed quite smoothly within each individual course. To tell the truth the hardest course to overcome was AP Chemistry. While the subject itself captivated much of the basic knowledge taught in regular chemistry, the real difficulty was applying those…

I never came kindly to the subject of Math. Math was always about constant rote memorization, full of extensive redundant notes that always found their way stuffed into the folds of my notebook never to be seen again. I held onto this impression the entire duration of ninth grade. However, upon a simple happenstance of acquiring the right math teacher with a different approach to math, I became increasingly aware of my previous errors in thinking. Everything was not as unyielding and tedious as I thought it was. Experiencing a teacher with a powerful new perspective altered my rigid frame of thinking, allowing me to excel in math.…

Everyone wants good grades throughout their years in school, mainly in high school. I am more of a math and science person, other subjects like history and government. Topics like politics, the constitution, the United States Government, political parties and anything else having to do with Government class I had no interest in when I signed up for classes. I know this is something that I should be keeping up to date on because of the upcoming election and everything that changes with the government. The spring of my sophomore year I was looking for different classes to take, I saw AP Government. I thought I could do well in that class, I was motivated to learn something new and excel at something I was not very interested in. The first day of junior year came quickly. Then the first AP government test came even quicker. I studied the night before for hours thinking positive thoughts and finding funny ways to remember different answers. Going into the test I thought I was ready, but when I saw the test I froze. Thinking different thoughts like “When did we learn this?” or “Why did I take this class?”. I pushed all the negative thoughts to the side and completed the test to the best of my ability. The day we got our test back I looked down and about cried. I had never done that bad on a test.…

I struggled in Chemistry my junior year. The chemistry teacher was a cool guy, but I struggle in the class due to a lack of communication. The notes had been usually the class period when we had them. I did not ask enough questions during notes, work time, and before or after school. I watched videos half way through the year to study and saw my grades improve. I can recall how when I had a question one time the chemistry teacher worked with me to find what I was doing wrong. The teachers are here to help you so keep up the communication and senior year should be a breeze.…

My favorite subject in school is Mathematics. It is my favorite because I never have difficulty with it and always get good marks in tests.I suppose I am lucky to be born with a clear-thinking brain. So ever since young, manipulating numbers and figures came easy to me.The wonderful thing about Mathematics is that, besides some formulae, there is nothing else to remember. Every step in solving a problem is done logically. Other subjects like History and Geography require a lot of memory work. Remembering dates and other facts is hard work compared with the ease and simplicity of mathematical reasoning. While Mathematics is simple to me, some of my friends have great difficulty with it. I do not really understand why. They get stuck with simple problems and often give up. So I help them out when I can.The one advantage I have in being good in Mathematics is that I do not have to spend a lot of time on it. Homework and tests are a breeze. So I have plenty of time left over to study other subjects. Sometimes I feel sorry for my less fortunate classmates who get scolded in class for not completing their Mathematics homework.Anyhow I have come to realize that human beings can be so different in their abilities while they look similar otherwise. Some of us are lucky to be good in some things. Others may not be so lucky.…
