Music Tendencies Music has made a major impact on who I am now, I am now confident in my abilities to read and write. When I was younger, I was always placed in a lower level reading and writing class, also growing up with a speech impediment problem didn’t make it any better. I’ve always had a big thing for music, but I didn’t fulfill it yet because I didn’t have the confident in my speech problem. Honestly, I never liked to read and write because I thought it was boring, but I’ve always had a major thing for music. I use to have a hard time dealing with my speech problem because I would get teased about it. I kept a notebook of lyrics that I would write everyday but I never expressed it to anyone due to the fact of my fear of my speech problem, and being afraid it wouldn’t come out as good as it was written. Every day when I would come home from school, or if were home alone I would sit in the quiet and write rhymes all day and night. It was too the point where I barely watched TV, played with friends, or any other activities. The only time where I would like to write was in English class where the subject was too write poems or short stories. I never liked to read the poems I just loved to write them, and that was my favorite part of English class. I could never forget the first time I wrote a poem, it had to rhyme and I knew I could do it easily. After I handed it in the teacher was amazed on how creative and how much deep thought I put into it. As I gotten older I wasn’t as shy as I use to be about expressing my passion to music. I also was interested in other things involving music other than writing it, such as producing it, wondering how everything work behind the scenes, the history of all different types of it, and how I could get more involved in it. I was interested into all types of music because music is different and creative and that’s how I would describe myself. I learned to be a

Writing was extremely difficult for me when I was younger, mainly because the great ideas I had in my head would not sound so great when I wrote them down on paper. It would sound so perfect to me, yet didn’t make any sense to someone else. Also, I dislike writing for the simple fact that there are a lot of rules to it. Throughout my high school years, I was a poor writer, and it came to my attention in my English 1101 class last year. I failed it the first time, because of not knowing how to get my thoughts to come together without them being all over the place. Retaking that course has really helped me get more focused on my writing skills.…

I love reading, as it allows me to escape from any troubles or stress I have in “real life.” If I am upset or stressed, all I need to do is find a book or start writing. I sometimes like to write stories, however, around the middle of the story I become bored with writing and usually shorten it about 5 chapters. I do not really read many adventure books. I like realistic fiction that I can relate to and funny stories. I also enjoy reading manga. The thing I love most about writing poetry is that there are no limits. You are not chained to the laws of grammar and standard conventions. I aspire to become a better writer and reader, although I do not want to choose that as my profession. I do plan to still write and read as a hobby,…

I love writing because you can write anything your heart desires. I love how it is a way to communicate with other people. When I was in first grade my teacher whose name has escaped my memory, taught my class how to write in cursive a year early. I loved the way the letters curved and swirled on paper. A desire to write and write anything was sparked by the fact that I thought cursive was pretty. But in first grade I was mostly writing vocab words and not essays so I had not yet discovered its power to communicate. Today, I love writing because I can share my opinion with the world. I see that writing gives me the power to make a difference and all people have to do is read…

As a little girl I wanted to be just like Hannah Montana. As I got older, I wanted to be like Rachel Berry, a small town girl living out a big town dream. I wanted to be looked up to because of my musical talent. Walking into Mrs. Kaiser's 7th hour, 8th grade band, I didn't know that music would have such an impact in my life. Music has become the spark of my intellectual curiosity. There are millions of combinations of key signatures, chords, melodies and rhythm in the world of music just waiting to become attached to a sheet of staff lines and spaces. Ever since my first experience with music in the fourth grade, my mind began to explore all these combinations of problems. Music helped me with math, english and gave me a place to escape when I was put into undesirable situations. In Middle…

Music has played a significant role throughout my whole life. All throughout middle school and high school I have been a performer, participating in many different musical organizations including orchestra and choir. These personal experiences have broadened my interests in music. In middle school I was in choice voices, which was a special singing group for people who excelled in singing. When I went to high school I stayed in the same program and even became senior section leader of my choir, conducting different songs at our concert and being in charge of different performances. During my childhood I was part of the choir at my church, and performed during the different holiday masses.…

My love for music began in middle school. At that time, I was socially awkward with very few friends. To compensate, I buried myself in music. My dedication led to many honors and admiration from my peers. However, when I got to high school, my relationship with music fundamentally changed. The arrival of an overly demanding teacher coupled with a long episode of depression robbed me of my passion to play. As time progressed, the pain I felt became too much to bear, and I became desperate for an outlet in which I could express myself positively. My quest led me to music once more, but classical was no longer the genre of choice. It was in hip hop and rap music that I found the will to overcome mental illness.…

Throughout my life writing has been very difficult. As a kid a speech impediment impaired my ability to learn to read properly. Because I struggled at reading, I also struggled at writing. In elementary school I went to a special class during lunch to learn how to read and write better. In middle school I went to after school help, but my writing skills always seemed to slip behind the level of the students around me.…

Writing has been a passion of mine since childhood. During elementary I wrote complex stories of whimsical adventures in my notebooks. Pages upon pages would be filled with fairies, castles, and daring rescues. My passion for writing continued into middle school. My friends and I would create stories together about band members or celebrities we were obsessed with. A website allowed us to use our new-found technological skills to write stories about characters and then share them with other people who enjoy the same characters. Middle school transitioned to high school, and my writing skills seemed to be lacking.…

I began writing at the very young age of eleven. The first thing I remember writing was a heartfelt song called finished. Even though I was too young to fully understand relationships, I wrote that song as if I had experienced it myself. After I wrote my first song I began to write poetry to express my feelings. Once my mom found out about my writings, I started writing poems for different programs at our church. Throughout the years, I began to enter a variety of poetry contests. In my junior year of high school I wrote a poem about bullying and won first place. Writing is a getaway for me, it always has been and it always will be.…

My writing process has always been a frustrating one. I like writing, but I don't think I'm very good at it. When I was younger, I loved letting my creative side shine by writing silly stories and pretending I was Stephen King, using words that I didn't even understand. My dad read me Shel Silverstein's books of poems and and drawings. Those books inspired me so much to write and to draw and be creative on a blank sheet of paper.…

I can always look back at old poetry and relive a few unforgettable memories. Creating poems is also a type of escape from all the exasperating events that are currently occurring in my life. The only things we hear on the news lately are what country is getting bombed, who hates who, and the sheer number of people dying every day. There is too much discrimination, madness, and anger circulating through our world right now. We have soldiers dying every day for our country in a war that could be stopped with peaceful actions. Instead, we have become oblivious to what is going on around us. Music has always tried to make people more aware of today’s problems. Johnny Depp said, “Music touches us emotionally, where words alone can’t.” It has been the intention of singers and songwriters that mutual respect and understanding of our differences is the key to world peace.…
