Getting a master’s degree in the field that I like is something I would like to achieve in the future. I am aiming to be an adult mental health clinical nurse specialist this is why I decided to pursue my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN). I see it as a stepping stone to my high educational goals. My main goal is to get my mental health nurse clinical specialist degree by the end of 2020, and I will pass the certification exam by early 2021.

By December 2016, I will have my BSN degree and I will apply first in a medical surgical unit and work there for at least two years to gain knowledge and experience. By Spring 2019, I will go back to school for a master’s degree and my goal is to finish it within 2 years. I have decided

Completing my bachelor’s degree in Nursing has been a personal goal of mine since I graduated with my associate’s degree in nursing. Having my BSN degree is essential for my career and personal development. Initially after graduating with my ASN, I enrolled in a BSN program and started my first class, when life happened. I was a single mother raising my 5 year old daughter, working the night shifts at Miami Children’s Hospital. I was dating my now husband and became pregnant with my second child. I ended up having to quit my job as a pediatric nurse which was my goal, to be a pediatric nurse, get my BSN and climb the ladder there. After the birth of my daughter my personal goals changed, and my academic and career goals were put on hold. My daughters are now almost 13 and 6, so I think now in this stage of my life, I am pleased to go for my academic and career goals.…

Nursing, in my opinion, is one of the most significant professions that one can be blessed to acquire. To those who pursue this field know it is a career that requires far more than simply an education even though the knowledge acquired from a degree is extremely important and necessary, by grasping rationale of the laws and regulations that rule nursing. A career in nursing requires someone to have compassion, sympathy, and care for others, especially those who are suffering from pain, illness and lack the understanding of what is happening to them or a loved one. It is a career of humanity, and it is this that first attracted me to a Masters degree in Nursing. My philosophy about nursing is that it is a career that one has to work hard for, but also a career that a person needs to have to a natural affinity for. I also believe one must have a commitment to helping others not expecting anything in return but a smile and knowing when you go home you gave your all. The ability to be a compassionate, caring nurse is what I hope to bring to the Masters degree in Nursing Program, gaining…

Following undergrad, I was unable to matriculate because of financial constraints. We were recent immigrants, and as an international student, financial aid was unavailable. To prepare financially for medical school prior to reapplication, I took a circuitous route that would also further my science and patient-care interests. After undergrad, I secured funding for a master's in mechanical engineering through the Department of Ophthalmology to work with low-vision patients and develop vision aids. By performing well, I maintained funding throughout the program. Since graduation, I have been working in PwC’s consulting practice, gaining broad exposure to industries like retail and foodservice. Though consulting demanded long hours, I remained…

Being in the medical field for the past ten years, I have seen the growth and changes in the medical field. When I began my nursing career as a medical assistant, I noticed many other nurses continuing their education to be able to have greater hands on approach in nursing. This opened my eyes to the endless possibilities that a nurse can do, whether it’s with direct patient care or being a resource to patients and other nurses around. After completing my RN in May of 2015, I decided that I really enjoyed being a mentor and teacher to other nurses. That is why I am continuing on with my education in hopes to one day receive my Master’s degree in Nursing and be able to utilize the knowledge and skills that I build, to educate patients. I still…

Because of changes in the practice environment, the nurse who holds a baccalaureate degree is beginning to experience greater autonomy, responsibility, participation in institutional decision making, and career advancement. “The two major current reports on nursing, Nursing Education (Benner et al. 2010)and the Future of Nursing (IOM, 2011) both recommend that entry into practice should require BSN” (Finkelman & Kenner, 2013,p 121). However, this mandate should be applied in the future to facilitate the transition from the two pathways; a diploma or associate degree programs to only one pathway which is a baccalaureate degree in…
