Integrity, respect, and a drive to make the world and people around you are essential parts as well. One of my favorite quotes is “Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life with integrity.” - W. Clement Stone. I try to apply this quote to my life daily. Doing what is right, and facing things that scare you for the greater good are two things that I focus on. Respecting others is a silent way of showing value for others. By listening and encouraging others to share their thoughts, you honor their personal rights. Having a drive to make everything around you better is one of the most important qualities to me. I attempt to help the environment better by volunteering in trash cleanups, reducing my plastic use, and by being vegetarian. I help the people around me by sharing opportunities, explaining hard topics, and by supporting others in their endeavors. I make an effort to be the total student for myself, my peers, and my community. I should be considered for Minnesota Honor Society because I meet, and exceed the qualifications of a member. Thank you for this amazing…

Throughout my college years, three activities have surrounded my life: school, church, and service-learning. When in school, I would always try my best to understand what I was supposed to learn, even if it was hard at times. My focus was school, which was also the focus of every other student in the Honors College. When someone needed help in their studies, I would offer it, especially if it had to do with English (my forte). In church, I always did my best to fulfill my callings, whether it'd be helping out the youth during camps, teaching classes, or setting up appointments between the bishop and members of the congregation. Regarding service-learning, I was always willing to help out. When possible, I would attend the different events that were meant to help out the community, whether it was a big event like Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service or simply by helping a neighbor move from one house to another. This is what has composed my college career.…

Service to others allows us to practice doing what Jesus would do and it connects us to those we serve and give us a kind of satisfaction that self-interest can never offer. When we serve others we are reminded that nothing in this life lasts as long as the bonds we form with other people, and there's no better way to connect ourselves to others than by working together for our common good and because everything we have comes from God, we should be willing to share it all. Think how much those talents mean when you share them with someone who needs your particular brand of expertise. Even the little things we do, like helping someone to transfer or positioning them or even feeding them, can make life a little easier for someone else.…
