Mary Washington Observation Report
As I sat in the lobby of the newly built Anderson Center at the University of Mary Washington, I eagerly awaited for my college tour to begin. The tour took me through different academic, athletic, and residential buildings. I must say the campus was very immaculate, everything felt as if I were at home. There was no doubt in my mind that I was at a top notch place. The University of Mary Washington has many good qualities, including location, academics, and campus life; all schools should strive to be better than the rest, and UMW does just that. The University of Mary Washington was founded in 1908. The name comes from the mother of our country’s founding father, George Washington. From 1944 to 1972 the University operated as an all-women’s …show more content…
The website gave it 3.2 out of 5, but the written reviews are so great that it should be higher. People on Unigo gave the location a 4 out of 5, which is really good. The assessments made on Unigo indicated that the location was absolutely wonderful. Some evaluators think that the location is awful, because there is not enough to do. Although one can see why they might make this argument, the evidence does not back it up, because of all of the things there are to do in the area. There is so much to do between laser tag, sports, and shopping you should never be …show more content…
Between all of the clubs, sports, dorms, dining facilities and the gorgeous views, no other college can compare. There are over one hundred clubs available, making it easy to always have something to be involved in. The college has over eight dining facilities for students to enjoy. On Niche campus food got a 3 out of 5 and on Unigo it got a 2 out of 5. It does have many mixed reviews when it comes to the food. Some people say the food is amazing and other people say the food is not that great. Residence life at UMW is pretty amazing. People on Niche said that the dorms were astonishing. Niche gives a dorm rating of 3.4 out of 5, which is pretty reasonable, considering that not all of the resident buildings have air conditioning. A few reviewers did complain about there being a lack of cold air, but if the people had looked on the website, they would have seen that you could pay a little extra to keep yourself cool. Mary Washington is a top level University with an amazing location, demanding academics, and a thriving campus life. Although, some students have negative views about

Mary Rita Lambert was born on June 8th, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri. She grew up in the city area with her four other siblings in a strict, Catholic household. She had three sisters and one brother. She was the middle child of the family, despite being close in age with her other two, younger sisters born two years apart from each other. My grandmother, Phyllis was born in 1936 and her youngest sister, Connie was born in 1938. Her older sister, Frances was born in 1925 and her older brother, Jackson was born in 1926. The older siblings often took care of the family and were regularly responsible for household duties while their parents were off working their jobs. I asked her if she remembered anything about the Great Depression, but she really…

The University of Central Florida (UCF) Orlando campus shows a high level of planning. The student union is at the center of campus and is encircled by two rings that contain the main academic and administrative buildings. Housing, sports fields, and stadiums abut the periphery of the rings (“UCF,” n.d.). The campus of the University of Wisconsin at Madison (UW) sprawls along Lake Mendota and is integrated into the grid-like street system of Madison. Most of the dormitories and sports complexes are on the fringes of campus (“University,” n.d.). The University of Maryland (UMD) campus lacks the appearance of planning that is more apparent at UCF or UW and is compressed by two major roads on the east and west, forcing the campus to spread north and south. A large mall occupies the center…

In the early twenty-first century minorities, women particularly, did not have much of a blessing to be in the workplace and more specifically the field of psychology. Mary Whiton Calkins was one of these women who worked almost selflessly to achieve a high educational standard that seemed to be unreachable. In a world dominated by the male gender, Calkins found herself fighting for recognition, never to obtain it from Harvard University. She first attended Harvard as an “unofficial guest” (Goodwin, 2008) according to Harvard officials but was later enrolled in Harvard in the fall of 1890 studying philosophy and physiological psychology…

I considered this collage due to their high enrollment numbers of 500 per year and the room and board are absolutely beautiful and not too expensive at the price of 39,000 per year and that’s very important to me. This collage offers 10 different degrees in each course you take! That is amazing, you can take two different courses and still graduate on time, you can still major in each of those fields as well. The part that really jumped out at me was the extra curriculums such as, power sport engine testing, test driving, electrical engineering, and lunch of your choice at your choice of…

I am interested in Saint Michael’s College because I know the competitive academic atmosphere, valuable alumni network, and vibrant area of Colchester, Vermont are right for me. The qualities I have observed at Saint Mike’s are some that I have been searching for throughout the college application process. I know that Saint Michael’s intimate campus would be a place that would promote great personal and academic growth within me. Visiting the campus this summer, I found Saint Michael’s to have a great community feel where everyone knew and supported each other. The students appear to be very driven individuals who have very bright futures ahead of them and I want this same opportunity for myself. My transition to Saint Mike’s would be almost…

My first few weeks of classes at UW-Platteville have surprisingly been fun and brought many opportunities of clubs I did not think I would join. When I imagined going to college for the first time, I thought I would cry and be homesick. To not be homesick I told myself to be involved with the Welcome Weekend activities and it worked! My classes were intimidating on the first day, but now that we have had many classes I am comfortable. I am using my time management skills everyday because I have many meetings to attend. Overall, I am glad I choose to continue my education at UW-Platteville because it feels like home.…

After deciding Marywood was the school for me, I had several small goals set to be accomplished. Hurdling over the steps of packing, purchasing textbooks, and saying goodbye to friends and family seemed hard enough; however, now that I have completed the first overwhelming strides of moving into college, I am ready to take on the much bigger challenge of completing my education and obtaining my master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. My goal as a college freshman at Marywood University is to graduate as a well-rounded individual while achieving as close to a 4.0 grade point average as possible. The core values of Marywood such as excellence, empowerment, and service will be important factors in the achievement of my goal.…

However, I had assigned to study at UUM for my study of degree level. And now, after about one semester at UUM, I had a depth perception about UUM and I realize that UUM is worth my time and money to study at here. The first advantage for me to study in UUM is UUM provides a sufficient accommodation for all its students. UUM is one the very few IPTAs that offer full accommodation to its students throughout the duration of their academic studies in UUM. Therefore, UUM’s students didn’t have to face with the renting a house or a room problem. To ensure there are enough accommodation and to cater to the housing needs of its ever glowing students population, UUM has built about 15 student residential halls that can accommodate approximately 20,000 students. The 15 residential halls are Proton, Tradewinds, TNB, Mas, Maybank, Petronas, Eon, Sime Darby, TM, MISC, BSN, Bank Muamalat, Yayasan Albukhary, SME Bank and Bank Rakyat.…

The second point we would like to compare is their facilities. METU is widely recognized with its cultural and intellectual facilities. The campus houses pioneers of some clubs such as mountaineering and scuba diving clubs, which are only two of a total of 25 different social clubs that students can choose. There is an alumni society. There are two gymnasiums, 7 tennis courts, a closed and an open swimming pool. However, the campus is far from the city center; therefore, there are not many places to eat at around the campus. METU has a very good library with hard and electronic copies of…
