Martians Were Zapped Pets
When a group of Martians landed in New Jersey a team of psychologists from kings Borough community college realized these Martians were displaying anti social behaviors. The psychologist decided to start a treatment that teaches respect for the rights and feelings of others. We see in the first graph that the psychologist used a treatment to try to stop the high pitched sounds the Martians were making. The problem with this graph is that it does not show the control group. Although We see that the Martians that received the treatment had a decrease of the frequency that they made high pitched sounds, we do not know what happened with the Martians that did not receive the treatment. In the second graph we see the frequency that the Martians were zapping pets. The treatment used was indeed successful. We see that within the month the independent group had a decrease from about 72 to 58 times that they zapped …show more content…
The proof we have that the treatment worked is that the control group which received no treatment increased the amount of times they zapped pets within the month. The third graphs shows us the frequency the Martians ate metal. We see that the treatment did not work. Within the month that the treatment started both the dependent and independent group had the same correlations. Both groups decreased mid month and both increased at the end of the month. Therefore we see that the treatment had no effect on the Martians. In conclusion we were unable to tell if the treatment worked in graph number one because there was no control group, In graph number two we see that the treatment has had a successful effect and In graph number three we see that the treatment had no effect on the

    Carb Cutter

In the Biology 1103 lab, we conducted two experiments to determine whether or not the diet pill, Carb Cutter, actually worked. In each experiment we used an experiment tube and a control (blank) tube. The purpose of a blank is to set a base level (zero) from which other measurements can be performed. In the first experiment we were trying to see if the amylase would digest the starch. We put amylase, TRIS, and starch in the experiment tube. If the amylase were active the starch concentration levels would decrease. The second experiment was conducted to see if the Carb Cutter stopped the amylase from digesting the starch concentration. In the experiment tube there is amylase, Carb Cutter, TRIS, and starch. The Carb Cutter is working if it stops the activity of amylase. TRIS is just a buffer used in the tubes. The reason for creating the tubes is to find the absorbance level, which would tell us if the Carb Cutter was actually working. The absorbance levels should have gone down as time passes because there would be less and less starch to digest as time went on. The level of starch concentration should have decreased at a slower rate in the tube with Carb Cutter as opposed to the one without it. This however was not the case. The level of starch concentration was digested at a similar pace for each tube. The results following were that the tube with the Carb Cutter had the same rate of digestion, as did the tube without the carb cutter.…

Result 6 we observed a successful result in the weekly intervention. During the first 26 weeks when there was not intervention the results were poor on with a minimum points of 20, which indicates a poor result. However, week 27 show an increase of 55 which is an indicator of a good intervention. By week 52 with a result of 80 points we determined that the interventions are effective. Also, this make thing that without intervention the results will be poor, however the increment is good, but it may be more intervention to be done in order to keep the good result.…

The most significant connection between the Martians physical nature and their destructive and ethically bankrupt tendencies can be found in the vast technological advances their species has made. In The War of the Worlds, the Martian race has co-evolved with their technology so much so that the narrator upon first encounter has trouble figuring out where machine ends and alien begins, describing them as “a great body of machinery on a tripod stand.” Technology has atrophied the Martian body to the point that they are completely devoid of entrails, a digestive system and sexuality. Without these functions for consumption, the Martian is able to subsist purely on “blood obtained from a still living animal” by means of a pipette run from the prey into the recipient canal. The physiological advantages of the Martian body are tremendous, increasing productivity and allowing them to function 24 hours a day with “little to no fatigue.” This same efficiency however has turned them into parasites, with no capacity for the ethical or moral. Just as they leech and suck the blood of sentient creatures, they seek to reap the Earth of its resources.…

In Ray Bradbury’s work Martian Chronicles, various aspects of human nature are emphasized. The author writes of how different characters take a trip to Mars and show their behavioral response to different situations. The most important event in the part was the landing of Martians and later the way Martians treated earth people. They didn’t pay any attention to their friendly gestures, interest and tolerance, but they only acted as cruel killers. Starting the novel Herbert Wells mentions that even though people think they are quite advanced there will be always someone who is more powerfully and mighty and what is more dangerous who has more ambitions and tyranic.…
