The following paper will take a look at the efficiency of the day to day management of the Marriott Chain of hotels. Marriott is a very popular hotel and it is my goal to determine if their HR strategy is in alignment with their business strategy. Marriott has many hotels and destinations resorts for their clientele. This hotel has set itself apart from other hotels by using differentiation. Marriott has created a unique value for their customers and their customers are willing to pay for that added value. The Marriott hotel chain also has many opportunities for employment within their organization. Marriott’s web site has all job descriptions and job requirements available for potential employees. Marriott’s main business plan is to earn revenue and then customer satisfaction is next in line. Customer satisfaction means that customers are likely to return and or recommend Marriott to their friends. Aligned with customer satisfaction is employ retention. Marriott has found that if they retain trained employees then they will provide the customer with good if not great customer service.
Ensuring HR plan is in alignment: HR managers should first hire the most qualified individuals for all open positions. Once qualified personal has been hired then HR must provide the most up to date training available for all employees. The business plan of earning revenue should be directly tied to the performance of employees. If employees perform their jobs well then the Marriott will benefit from their employees work performance. On the other hand; if an employee provides poor customer service then the Marriott will not benefit because of poor service. All employees of the Marriott provide
