MARKING CRITERIA OF THE YEAR 11 ASSESSMENT TASK 3 - 2014

You will be assessed in the form of:
A. Written report 70 marks
B. Performance at the site 30 marks

A. REPORT
The written report should include:
1. Introduction; containing relevant background information of the site by gathering information from secondary sources. (P12.3) Relevant information includes but not limited to: (15 marks)
- Problem
- Aim(s)
- Hypothesis
- What a healthy environment is (in term of ecology)
- Background of Sepa Island
- Justification of the use of data and analysis.
2. Materials; containing list of materials being used including physical factors, and the brand of the equipments if available. 5 marks
3. Procedure; how class data are collected, and how group data are taken, with the correct form of sentences (P12.2) 5 marks
4. Results; how do you present your data efficiently by processing information to: (P12.4) 5 marks
• Choose the most appropriate graphs and data arrangement to best illustrate trends and patterns using computer assisted analysis, and the possible food web of all organisms present on the island.
5. Discussion; 30 marks
Process information (P12.4) to:
• assess the reliability of first-hand and secondary information and data by considering information from various sources.
• evaluate the relevance of first-hand and secondary information and data in relation to the area of investigation.
Analyse information to (P14.1):
• identify trends, patterns and relationships as well as contradictions in data and information.
• use cause and effect relationships to explain phenomena
Solve problems by: (P14.2)
• identifying and explaining the nature of a problem
• evaluating the appropriateness of different strategies for solving an identified problem.
Use available evidence to design and produce creative solutions to problems. (P14.3)
6. Conclusion 5 marks
