Premium pricing is an integral part of eco-products, which environmental conscious customers are willing to pay for them. However, EcoOptions should be priced according to the “low, day-in day-out pricing” policy. This policy is set to bring down prices by using size and scale to our advantage in negotiating with manufacturers and reducing operating costs (Chandrasekhar, 2006, p6). The value of “environmental friendly” or “socially conscious” as a product attribute is to differentiate themselves from competitors in pricing strategy, which will attract more consumers to favor in eco-products especially with affordable prices. In addition, this will not only help the company itself to develop good reputation and increase sales but will eventually motivate the whole market’s buying habit and business’ production trend changing from conventional products toward environmental friendly products.…

On top of engaging the customers to improve the company’s innovation, 3M also engage the employees by introducing new scheme to motivate them to innovate. Previously, the product inventors could spend 15% of their time apart from their responsibilities to get inspirations for product invention. The Post-it Notes were invented through this time scheme. Additionally, as inventors rise up in their career, they had a choice to either stick to inventing or switch to management. This is otherwise known as the “Dual Ladder” (Thomke, 2002, p. 2) career progression in 3M. On top of that, product designing ideas could be borrowed from the other departments of 3M with the help of its internal showcases. In 3M, failure of innovation meant that the product team would move on to join other project instead of having to face sanctions. Process engineers were also involved in the product teams so that products under development would be effectively made. Such methods used in the innovation process ensured…

This new technology is focused on efficiency and environmental awareness, but if the campaign emphasizes these features too much, it can backfire, because efficiency is usually connected to low-performance in customers’ mind. So a special way had to be found, in which they overwrite the previous meanings (‘bad’ and ‘poor’) of efficiency in people’s mind.…

ABSTRACT Studies of green consumer behaviour, in particular purchasing and disposal, have largely focused on demographics and/or socio-demographics, with mixed and frequently contradictory results. To move the debate forward, we investigated a wide range of 40 sustainability activities with 78 consumers, who placed each activity on a matrix according to perceived effort and perceived difference to the environment. Patterns both across respondents and between certain pairs of activities were identified, and we suggest that this model increases our understanding of how consumers view sustainable activities. Marketers can use this information to consider marketing strategies that positively influence consumers’ perceptions of such activities. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd and ERP Environment.…

Western society is founded on a principle of convenient consumerism; however, this easy living comes at a high environmental cost. Individuals today are pushed to buy the latest fashions, the newest electronics, and the best imported foods the world can offer. Consume, consume, consume! In recent years, a growing focus on global warming has brought discussion of the effects of such lifestyles into the focus of mainstream media. This new emphasis on “going green” has opened up an entirely new category of products to meet society’s need to consume. The market is now flooded with “easy” ways to go green; hybrid cars, light bulbs that use less energy, anything to purport the idea of becoming more environmentally friendly – so long as the consumer does not have to actually sacrifice any of the conveniences of modern life. While these are certainly steps in the right direction; to create the dramatic decrease in global CO2 emissions required to combat the effects of global climate change, the idea of the “American Dream” society, and today’s rampant consumerism, will have to be revolutionized.…
