Marketing and the Strip Club
Re: Marketing Topic Paper (Subject Matter)

The subject I chose for my topic report is “ Competing in the Adult Night Club Industry “ . The subject sparked my interest when I over heard a classmate saying she wanted to own a “strip club”. I also had thoughts of one day opening my own “gentlemen’s club”. Typically when you think of a “strip club” you think of a low class, raunchy, place filled with criminals, but contrary to some beliefs that isn’t always the case. There is an upscale adult entertainment venue called a “gentlemen’s club”.
We both had made reference to the recent popularity of a nightclub in Washington, DC called “The Stadium Club”. “The Stadium Club” considers itself an upscale “gentlemen’s club” that offers things such as: five star dining, dancing, live adult entertainment, valet, and door-to-door limousine service. “The Stadium Club” advertises live on the radio, works with various club promoters, is frequented by many celebrities, and is now featured in various rap songs and videos. “The Stadium” has a strong following on both facebook and twitter and has now become a DC “hot spot”.
I knew that “The Stadium” wasn’t the only adult entertainment venue in the area, so I wondered “What made it so popular?” and “Why was “The Stadium Club” more sucessful than the others like it? “.Through a market analysis I found that this industry is highly competitive. With regards to one of “Porters five forces” I decided to base my paper on the threat of rivalry among the competetiors in this industry.

One of the grandest curiosities of males traveling solo in Sin City has everything to do with hiring Vegas strippers. Certainly, this town is not lacking in gentlemen’s clubs, but men seeking an elite degree of adult entertainment often look into inviting a girl to their room for a custom show that proves to be much more rewarding than what one unearths at a club. Hiring a Las Vegas stripper is not complicated, as long as a man knows who to trust for a premier striptease performance in the privacy of his room.…

Owner’s and management decide which type of customers the club will attract, based on the location of the club, the ambiance, and the type music the club provides. Advertisement, and or promotions can play a big role in the type of customer that the club attracts. Low priced, or two for one drinks, and or an extra long happy hour also set a tone and draws in certain types of customers. Management can, at any time, change that tone, by altering the music, adding or changing the amount of a cover charge at the door, enforcing a more strict dress code, changing the ambiance, increasing security, posting signs of video surveillance, or taking other measures appropriate to that environment.…

Hosting events ranging from professional sports to famous music concerts, stadiums have great potential to become the focal point of a city. In a survey by Performance Research, 61% of the people believed facilities named after corporations add favorably to the community. With effective relationship marketing, companies can utilize stadiums to create a positive brand identity among the surrounding community, a determining factor in the consumer stage of purchase-decisions. However, undertaking stadium sponsorship without considering the needs of clubs or fans would appear to be a "cold-hearted attempt to buy a company's way into…

Throughout history, prostitution has been considered the “Age Old Profession”. In the United States where prostitution is considered illegal, certain cities have had their experience of working girls, gentlemen’s clubs and other sex related entertainment. Nevada is the only city with legal prostitution, such as the Bunny Ranch, a well-known brothel that even has a reality series. Other cities such as New York City – Time Square, were infamous for their “illegal” prostitution and sex business until the 1990’s. Before the New York Times had the building, Marc Eliot states “…dozen of prostitutes worked both sides of the Times Tower… the business of sex dramatically increased its visibility on the city’s newest and most popular main drag”. In 1880 it was estimated that a dozen brothels each lined West 39th and 40th streets alone. According to VR Macbeth, Sex in the Square Article he states:…

When I began planning this paper, I didn’t know where to begin. Because I’m from Evansville, it was much harder to find something I’ve never done, but then it hit me. I just turned 18 recently and the two places I haven’t been that I am now able to are 1) the hookah bar or 2) the strip club. I didn’t think going to the strip club would be an appropriate topic for this paper. Therefore, I was left with option number one.…

Nevada, being the only state to allow prostitution of any form, may provide a feasible system for other states to integrate. The history of prostitution starts with European settlers, history of legalized prostitution in the United States is short. “According to the Reader’s Companion to American History, there was no Native American counterpart to the purchase of sexual favors (Gilfoyle). As with so many other ‘gifts’ of the white man, sex for hire has taken root in american culture and seems to have flourished.” (Case, 1). In spite of popularity, temperance and religious groups fought to make soliciting and offering sex for money illegal by the 1900’s. (Case, 1). Nevada legalized prostitution in counties with populations less than 400,000 in 1971. Although Nevada’s prostitution laws are more out of omission rather than stating directly the legality of the profession. The brothel owners and operators must be pre cautious as to not offend their communities. Many of these brothels employ inflexible curfews and live-in policies for the safety of workers and protection against outside criticism. Nevada has controlled the social issues experienced where prostitution is prohibited such as: transmissions of Sexually Transmitted Diseases, the exorbitant amounts of money spent on prosecuting offenders, and the dangers of women and workers alone on the street in counties where brothels are legal and licensed. Therefore, it can be “hypothesized that regulated legalization will effectively control the social problems caused by illicit prostitution in the rest of the country.” (Case,…

The legal right to be free from torture and cruel and inhuman or degrading treatment is recognized by most nations and is internationally guaranteed. Women and children working in the sex industry are repeatedly subject to rape, violence, and sexually transmitted diseases. The current system of prosecuting and jailing these women has been ineffective in reducing the illegal activities. These issues can be addressed by legalizing and regulating the prostitution industry. By using Nevada where brothels are legal as a model for the rest of the country enforcing strict regulations can better protect those victimized by the industry.…

The business venture that I have selected is a Sport’s Bar Franchise. The reason I picked the Sports Bar Franchise is because I have wanted to open up my own Sport’s Bar for about the last two years. I have been curious to know what does it take to open up a Sport’s Bar and with doing this project and learning about strategic planning and management I believe I will learn a little bit of what I have been trying to figure out. The goal for my Sports Bar is to be a successful business that provides a fun and relaxing atmosphere for its customers. The name of the Sports Bar will be Q’s Sports Bar. The hours of operation are from 12pm to 2am 7 days a week. The Services that Q’s Sports Bar has to offer are food, drinks, big screen TV’s for watching sports and entertainment for its customers. Q’s Sports Bar will also be offering an after five social daily that have daily drink specials including a buffet from 5pm to 7:30pm. The atmosphere of Q’s Sports Bar is different from the atmosphere of a club and that is the reason people go to a Sports Bar is because it is more laid back and it is not a lot of commotion. Q’s Sports Bar is ideal for the working adults that want to wind down after a long day at work and just want to come and relax and have a piece of mind. The targeted customers are anyone over the age of 21 years old. The reason the customers age has to be over the age of 21 is because Sports Bar’s are places that sell alcoholic beverages and people under the age of 21 is not allowed. Some Sports Bars allow people under the age of 21 to be escorted in by an adult but now days it is hard to say whether the person escorting a person under 21 is the parent and that is what makes it hard for owners to feel safe when they let a person under 21 inside.…

The legalization of prostitution has been a scandalous topic of controversy since the American society first started to plant its roots. Although it’s one of the world’s oldest vocations (dating back to the Phoenician era in 1200BC), prostitution is still a taboo prospect that has been forced into an underground business in the United States culture. Yet, legalizing this form of work would be beneficial to our society as it would allow the trade to bring in a steady profit and regulate the health of the prostitutes as well as their johns, seeing as it also is not constitutionally illegal.…

People are becoming increasingly interested in experiencing the darker side of the industry however seedy it may be. Prostitution in Amsterdam’s ‘Red Light District’ for instance has become a part of its culture and main tourist attraction encouraging tourists from all over the world to visit the city, the city’s tourism industry is branded as a place full of sex and drugs which in fact is a key motivator for a large proportion of tourists especially for stag and hen parties because of the pre conceived image created by international marketers, advertising the city’s explicitly, promiscuity and incentive of fulfilling sexual desires (Yeoman 2012). Tourists enjoy getting involved in the act or simply see it as a way of feeding into their own curiosities about the sex…
