Marijuana Should Not Be Legalized Essay

Marijuana is often portrayed as a dangerous illicit drug by the government and the media, but what if you found out that it cures the symptoms of chronically ill patients and was safer than most other legal substances. Today ladies and gentleman my speech is going to be on the current issue of marijuana legalization and I agree that it should be legalized. 1000s of scientific studies have been recently analyzed by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine in a report which clearly shows the vast range of benefits. Medically the cannabinoids and THC have been proven to help with symptoms of cancers, chronic pain, certain mental disorders, and seizures just to name a few. Recreationally marijuana is 114% less safe than alcohol and tobacco plus is a much safer alternative to harder drugs.

Many of the naturally occurring substances in marijuana such as THC and cannabinoids have been scientifically proven in studies analyzed by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to treat a wide range of medical symptoms. Marijuana has the ability to fight cancer cells, relieve chronic pain, treat epileptic seizures, hepatitis C, multiple sclerosis, muscle spasms, arthritis, Alzheimer’s, PTSD and even surprisingly improve lung health
The negative stigma that has been often attached to marijuana use has affected people seeing the positives. With proper education, regulations and research just like with alcohol and tobacco, I believe that legalization of marijuana will be both successful and beneficial for everyone around the world. In this generation we think of teens trying to rebel and drug addicts ripping up bongs to get stoned. Just imagine in the next generation you or maybe even your future kids buying marijuana at a pharmacy to treat illnesses just like any other prescription
