Maribel's Claim Analysis
Lea and Gabe, two college students that happen to go to the same University. The book starts off with Lea and her dorm mate Maribel inside their dorm, about to be a late night in September, this part of the story is in Maribel’s point of view. Before the real drama of the story begins, the book opens up with Maribel talking to Lea about getting a fake ID. Lea is kind of shy to the idea and in Maribel’s point of view Lea is nice and innocent and is trying to open Lea up to new possibilities. The central conflict of the story is that Lea and Gabe like each other but can’t talk to each other due to their extreme shyness towards each other! Lea wants to talk to Gabe and Gabe wants to talk to Lea, and everyone around them just wants them to talk to each other, address their feelings for each other, and be together. They always bumped into each other, like they had a magnetic pole between each other and everyone could see how cute that was, how they were attached without fully being attached to each other, their relationship is pure skinny love. But even when everyone around could see that they were made for each other, other people couldn’t. There is another girl that likes Gabe that Lea get’s jealous of, but doesn’t tell Gabe, and then there is Lea’s best friend who is gay but Gabe thinks is her boyfriend. The story hit a huge turning point when Lea gets tired of feeling embarrassed and not being able to talk to Gabe, and Gabe is feeling the same way. They both get extremely tired of them talking about each other to each other’s friends but yet they can’t say their feelings to each other. When they finally get the courage to do it, is when they are both extremely drunk! Their problem of them not being able to admit their feelings and have a real conversation is solved, when they are alone and just become completely humble and honest about their feelings, and end up dating each

    On the first day of being a Senior at Benson High School, Greg’s mother forces him to become friends with Rachel Kushner. Rachel is one of his old friends because they dated around six years ago. However, his mother tells him that Rachel is suddenly diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Thus, Greg listens to his mom and follows what she wants him to do. His main goal is to get to know her better since their break up, and help cheer her up since Greg is a humorous guy. This is a person vs person conflict, mom vs Greg.
