Mariama Hard Work
In the article by Karima Mariama, “This is why hard work is not essential to achieving success,” she explains why hard work is not an essential factor to achieve success. Mariama explains that hard work does not have a precise definition, but that it changes from person to person. She also introduces a list of “fundamental factors” that contribute better to achieving success than hard work.
One strength that Mariama’s article has, is the format in which she chooses to write it in. This format makes it organized, easy to follow, and understand. With the list style that she writes in, it also makes each “fundamental factors” which she considers to be key points, that are involved with success seem straight to the point.

Hard work is a major tool that can be used by various people to achieve their goals and objectives. People who have been successful have used it in the past. Hard work and persistence go hand in hand. In fact, one can be used in place of the other at times. It should, however, be noted that the two terms are different in that persistence is a component of hard work (Crew and Sweet 4). Oppression based on race, religion, and gender, and caused by fundamentalism and extremism, exists everywhere today. Mariama Ba’s So Long a Letter and Nawal El Saadawi’s Woman at Point Zero focus on the oppression and subsequent suffering of women by mainstream patriarchy. People respond to adversity in a multitude of ways, including further hostility and moderate protest. Woman at Point Zero’s Firdaus exemplifies the former method, while So Long a Letter’s Ramatoulaye elucidates the latter, more successful method. Hence, Ba answers the question of how people should embrace their ideals, while El Saadawi reveals the cause and effect of rampant societal extremism. Ultimately, the two authors convey the universal theme that bigotry always results…

In my opinion, “Hard work” and “enthusiasm” are the first and the most important steps through the door of success. Having a strong foundation in our life is so important. For Example, for building a tower, engineers first start building the base. The base is the most important part of the tower; with out a strong base, the possibility of the tower falling is high. In our life we will build other things based on these two cornerstones, so we must have develop good habits about working hard and being enthusiastic. This will make our life strong.…

My final point is individual support. If an individual is not supported by somebody, they will slowly stop trying now, and never begin trying later. Support is bigger than what it looks like, it makes you feel confident in your work. Confidence through support is key when life gets tough. When you know that somebody is backing you no matter what happens it makes you try a little bit harder because if you fail you know that you still have somebody there to pick you back…

The magic of hard work and perseverance cannot be underestimated. We see in general that people who have succeeded in life have done an immense amount of hard work and their success is we all see, but the effort put in, we fail to measure. We do wonder how he could achieve so much, but it is absolutely certain that achievement has come his way after much of continued effort. Most of us do make efforts but, soon lose heart and leave our projects and this is why we fail to reach the pinnacle of success. It must be clear in our minds that, we never can achieve with just a simple raising of a finger, we have got to put our heart and soul in a particular job and that also with continued vigour in every attempt then only we can hope for any success. Those of us who leave effort midway are obviously left midway by success also, and then we are disheartened and broke, just to ogle jealously at those who have succeeded. If we have the confidence in our effort, there is nothing that can deter us from…
