Marching Band Strength
According to the dictionary, marching band is “a group in which instrumental musicians perform for the purpose of entertainment and exercise.” However, this rigorous activity provided more lessons that impacted my life: dedication, determination, and organization.

Marching band is analogous to a machine. All of the components must properly function in order to complete a certain task. Therefore, each member should possess dedication in order to produce a triumphant show and capture the audience’s attention. If one member fails, the whole organization collapses. Through these experiences, I learned that determination and dedication contributes to a successful lifestyle. Otherwise, dreams could never exist.

    One will understand that they must be patient with their fellow peers, for the reason that some people might struggle with marching, or memorize their music slower than others. One must learn that respect is not given, but earned.     The impact of physics affect my personal performance in many ways throughout marching band. First off, I will start out with explaining physics and the laws of it. Newton’s laws of motion are, one, “When viewed in an inertial reference frame, an object either is at rest or moves at a constant velocity, unless acted upon by an external force.” This is basically saying when something is at rest, it tends to stay at rest, and something that is in motion tends to stay in motion. In marching band, we never tend to stay at rest, because we are always in motion, whether that be playing our instruments, which does require energy, or whether we are moving our bodies by marching or doing a visual, or also even thinking about what we are going to do next. The second law of Newton is, “the acceleration of a body is directly proportional to, and in the same direction as, the net force acting on the body, and inversely proportional to its mass. This is saying that the more force, the more acceleration. This is applying to marching because, you have to have force to do everything. If you don’t have this then we would just be walking all over the field without a care in the world. The way we march is force and the way our feet are moving at a certain tempo is accelerating our movements, putting force to them. Also the way we go to different sets to create objects and shapes in our movements, you have to apply force also, making the pictures sharp. The third law of Newton is, “When one body exerts a force on a second body, the second body simultaneously exerts a force equal in magnitude and opposite in direction to that first body.” I believe this is saying that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction to the other one. This applies to marching band because when you are marching you have to keep straight legs most of the time and, to do that your legs swing kind of like a pendulum, switching the weight of your body from your right leg to…
