I am writing concerning Tripp Moore, whom I have come to know throughout my years as the Flomaton High School “Hurricane” Marching Band drumline instructor. As Tripp’s instructor, it was a pleasure to get to know him. Tripp has been a great student of mine and it has been my pleasure of being able to teach him. He has some great qualities of a human being and qualities that you would love to see in a leader. Tripp’s hard work and his dedication to music helped him as he joined band and made awesome strides to be on the best percussionist. Tripp also dedicates his time to being a part of the Flomaton High School Jazz Band, and being the drummer at his church First Baptist Church of Flomaton, Alabama. Tripp will one day be a great leader in his…

Sunday is the main events so the runners for the half and full marathon came in to retrieve their information packets, and shirts which they will wear during each run. Before I was assigned to work with a few other ladies behind the Shirt Distribution stand, the staff explained to all the volunteers about the water pouches that will be available to use during the events, and briefly demonstrated how the new water pouches worked, and how we should hold the water for the runners as the passed by. At the Shirt Distribution stand, we handed out long sleep shirts for each race, and collected the Shirt tabs which were located on each runner’s bibs. Once we collected the tabs, we each placed them in a clear plastic tub, which the head of staff would use to count if they needed to know how many shirts were distributed. We each took on equal responsibilities for the shirt distribution tasks, and when we were not busy; we conversed and got to know one another a little better. Pizza and burgers were provided for lunch, along with some water or soda to drink. Starbucks was available for everyone to drink freely, and cupcakes were being donated for two dollars towards charity. One of the supporters was a ballet company touring for the holidays, so they chose to put on a free short performance for the visitors at the Freedom Marathon Exposition, while giving the children a free lesson on how to properly stretch the muscles in their body. I thought it was great way to market the business and to get local patrons interested and eager to see more. I found it interesting to see that all ages were running or walking the marathons and it open my eyes up to how many people are actively involved in the community. Everyone was really humble and patient while waiting to receive their shirts which allowed the…

We will believe this will meet the objectives listed below because we will be doing something unique that will draw attention to the UCD Club Hockey team while also providing back to the community. The proposed event, theoretically titled 'Puck-A-Thon: 24 Hours of UC Denver Hockey' will take place at a local hockey rink. The team will play a single game of hockey of 24 hours. Players will be allowed to take shifts to avoid extreme exhaustion, but there will always be at least 4 members of the team on the ice at a time. We will have smaller events on the UCD campus leading up to this where friends, family, students, faculty, and fans can sponsor a player for 'Puck-A-Thon.' The UCD Hockey Team will keep half of the money collected, while the other half will be donated to an undetermined charity. We also will invite others who want to participate in 'Puck-A-Thon' to join in the game. To play, a donation will be mandatory with a minimum fee attached. Players are encouraged to bring their own equipment, however some equipment will be available on a first come, first serve basis. We are attempting to also obtain sponsorship of the event from local businesses. The businesses will be able to put up their advertising during our events, in exchange for donated prizes that we will be able to give away to those who sponsor the players. Categories will be set up where players will win awards…

Providing school spirit and welcome entertainment at every football game, pep rally, and parade is one common group: the marching band. Many dismiss marching band as a geek pastime, rather than appreciating it for the athletic endeavor that it truly is. However, the very definition of a sport proves this idea wrong. According to the Oxford Dictionary, a sport Is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. Physical exertion is found with the speed and precision of movements. Add in long practices, hot uniforms, and heavy instruments as well. Skill can be seen in the flawless memorization of spots and music, and executing both at the same time. Entertainment…

What does it mean to be a leader? The answer is simple, but the meaning is much deeper than most people think. The simple answer is that a leader is one who brings a group toward a common goal, but the importance of these leaders is harder to explain. The importance of these leaders, especially in a large group such as the marching band, is profound. This, my formal application of the position of saxophone section leader, will explain why I would make a suitable leader in the marching band. I will make my attempt at explaining how a section leader should be, and the goals they should work toward achieving.…

    (1) Shaun is a huge college football fan. In the past, he has always bought football tickets on the street from ticket scalpers. This year, he decided to join the university 's ticket program, which requires a $2,000 contribution to the university for the “right” to purchase tickets. Shaun will then pay $400 per season ticket.
