In the story ‘’Marble Champ’’ by Gary Soto, lupe is someone that wants to be good at something other than school. But as I read I learned that lupe is someone that people would admire. This is because she's smart, hardworking, and a good sport. The first reason lupe is someone to admire is because she's smart. This is nothing new. Lennox shoots for at least another 45 minutes after practice. Off-days mean two-hour workouts....'It could be a good thing and it could be a bad thing,' Lennox said,'but I'm a workaholic.'" (Medina). Lennox mentions how "it could be a good thing or a bad thing" but I think it's a good thing because it shows her dedication. She lets go of everything else and keeps focus on getting better. Betty Lennox even spends her free time working: "...spends much of her spare time in her Minneapolis apartment watching herself on game films and trying to spot areas in need of improvement, Lennox spent the 2000-2001 off-season in Israel, playing on a pro team there in order to hone her competitive skill." Similarly, the main conflict Jess faces is her love for soccer versus her family’s expectations. Soccer is everything to Jess and she does anything to play, even if it means lying to her family, which she does begrudgingly. Once she is given the chance to play competitively she realizes that she has what it takes to be a professional soccer player, and she wants to secure her chance. The conflict is her family’s expectations. Her family doesn’t want her to play the sport she loves because she is a woman. In her family’s culture, women are confined to the home. Her family believes that her only duty is to find a suitable husband, not play a silly sport. The developments of sculpture are closely associated with the emergence of human society. A sculpture is the history of human identity recording the thoughts, culture, and aesthetic concept of the people at that age, and also reflects the worship of one generation to another. The Marble Statue of a Youthful Hercules, a Roman marble sculpture from A.D. 69 to 98, Flavian dynasty, depicts the Greek Mythology hero: Hercules . In contrast, Commemorative Portrait of a Chief (Lefem), an African wood sculpture from 19th to early 20th century, is an portrayal of one of the rulers of Bangwa chiefdoms . Imagine you are in a dark, deserted, brick alleyway. A night owl hoots in the distance. Your phone just died and you are ten miles away from home. You are bored out of your mind because you cannot think of anything to do. Zing! A motorcycle coughing black smoke streaks by, but does not notice you. No one is walking by because the dingy, damp alleyway you are stranded in is not a place anyone wants to be. It is so quiet you could hear a pin drop. If you have a ball, you could play volleyball with the wall, but only if you know how. In this situation, you would wish with all your heart that you knew how to play volleyball. You can learn how by using my challenging, but accurate process to bump, underhand serve, and…

Although Laila was also brought up in the same society as Mariam, her character is stronger as compared to Mariam’s. She has a strong desire to use her intelligence and education to improve the society and as her father, tells her: “Marriage can wait, education cannot... You can be anything you want... Because a society has no change of success if its women are uneducated... No chance” (Hosseini, 114). The characters personality evolves over time, and this helps to analyze the tragic themes of the novel which are oppression, hope, and internal strength of women.…
