Manuepe Lake
Mapanuepe Lake
Mapanuepe Lake in Aglao, San Marcelino may be considered as one of the least recognized spots in Zambales, but it has already been featured on Destination of Truth, an American TV series. This lake was formed during the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. Flash floods submerged two barangays which later on formed into a lake. Now, only the cross of the sunken church is visible—a limpid testament how catastrophic the Mt. Pinatubo eruption was for Zambaleños.

The lake looks calm with scenic mountain framework, but its story remains disturbing and enigmatic. Visit tips and directions here
If you are a fan of old churches, you might be interested to visit these houses of worship in Zambales.

To soothe your tired muscles, try dipping into the pools of Hot and Cold Springs Resort in the secluded Barangay Marguez in Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat. The two adjacent pools have, yes, hot and cold waters which are naturally sourced from the nearby mountain. There, the chorus of the birds and the sound of the flowing water dominate.

Marguez Hot and Cold Spring resorts is managed by the town government of Ezperanza.

ituated in the mountainside of Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat province lies an eco destination which locals in the area patronized.
The Margues Hot and Cold Spring is about 8 kilometers from the poblacion. Corn fields, palm trees and a mini rice terraces are some of the views that can be seen going to the area.

Margues Pool in panorama
Locals are very helpful to assist if you inquire where the hot spring is. When asked about the location, they usually response with “ sa ta-as pa na” which they mean above the mountain. I noticed that the resort is really in an elevated area as we head back to the highway – a scenic overlooking view of the Municipality of Esperanza. Barangay Margues is endowed with a natural scenic panorama and it is more than a thousand feet above sea level.

The integumentary system acts as a barrier to many potentially harmful threats such as UV rays, harmful organisms, and forces that would damage the skin. The human body is its own natural defense system, and it will attack anything that threatens its homeostatic environment. If a slight cut in the skin breaks the barrier, it causes the body to become susceptible to these threats, and various forms of bacteria. If invaded, the body will then go through a series of reactions in response to the attack to help fight off anything foreign, and will attempt to return itself back to its previous state of health. According to the passage ‘Canoe Lake’, a few threats were identified. The uv rays from the sun, microbes in the lake, and toxins present in the lake. The body system has its own way of reacting to these threats.…

I had gotten some of the most outstanding pictures I had ever taken of the lake from being on the shoreline, and being surrounded by nature had made me feel wonderful. As I approach the boat that would take me to Wizard Island, I begin to grow very excited. I sit down in the boat and open my notes to the beginning, where it states in my messy handwriting that Crater Lake was established on May 22, 1902 by president Theodore Roosevelt. I look at the other jotted down notes, such as how it’s the deepest lake in the country, how William Gladstone Steel devoted his life into making Crater Lake a national park and held many lake surveys that provided scientific support, and how it was formed 7,700 years ago by the collapse of Mount Mazama. After reading these notes and scribbling down about my encounter with the bobcat, I look up to see we have reached Wizard…

We are told little of the narrator other than he is the driver on this fateful night. With the two previous nights’ bringing them little satisfaction, they choose to head to Greasy Lake. The narrator pulls into the lake’s dirt lot along with Digby, Jeff, and a bottle of lemon-flavored gin.The title Greasy Lake refers to the once pristine water’s now murky state, but the story’s characters come across rather greasy as well. The ideal backdrop set by Boyle for this night of savagery has many references to nature such as the “mysterious nighttime grass of Greasy Lake.” The images conjured while reading this story were dramatic and intense; I put down Greasy Lake keenly aware that I wanted more yet oddly satisfied.…

On the both side of the lake, there are lovely lodges surrounded by the forest and dense bushes. A few clear streams flowed out from the mountain. Then they meandered gently through the trail and went down to the creek. Looking up and down, I found it hard to distinguish which was the sky and which was the lake. I even thought the fish in the lake was actually fly in the sky, since the mountain and clouds scene reflected in the tranquil lake so…

The lake itself plays a major role throughout the story, as it mirrors the characters almost exactly. For example, the lake is described as being "fetid and murky, the mud banks glittering with broken glass and strewn with beer cans" (125). The characters are also described as being "greasy" or "dangerous" several times, which ties the lake and the characters together through their similarities. The narrator explains, "We were bad. At night we went up to Greasy Lake" (124). This demonstrates the importance that the surroundings in which the main characters ' choose to be in is extremely important to the image that they reflect. At the beginning of the story, these characters ' images and specifically being "bad" is essentially all that mattered to them. "We wore torn up leather jackets…drank gin and grape juice…sniffed glue and ether and what somebody claimed was cocaine" (124). They went out of their way doing anything even remotely deviant, and thrived on the stereotypical image of being "bad."…

L is for lost. As you might know, this spring break I went to lake Konoplis with my Mom, Dad, and sister. It was very exiting, because this was going to be the first time we had ever stayed in a cabin. Lake Konoplis is right past the small town of Marquette. When we go to the cabin the first thing we did was unpack. Shortly we went down to a little fishing place we saw when we came in. We weren't having any luck there so we decided to go to a different section of the lake.…

We had walked about a half hour when we reached the lake. We had recently started learning geography and I instinctively recognised the lake as the Sea of Azof. This was the first time in a large amount of time when I felt free, happy and, I didn’t know why, but I felt relieved. I was running around, playing with a large smile on my face when I saw something I had never before. I had come to this lake quite a few times but I had never noticed anything like this before. Through the dense shrubs and trees I could see something, maybe someone. I glanced to the side to check what the governess was doing. The governess wasn’t focused on me, so I moved a little closer to edge of the lake, however stayed close enough so she could see…
