SPECIFIC PURPOSE: To give a 5-6 Minute speech on Manny Pacquiao

THESIS: More specifically, the Boxer, the Philanthropist and the Politician.

INTRODUCTION I. Attention grabber: "Pound for pound, Manny is the best boxer in the world, but even more important than holding that distinction, Manny has connected with the people of his home country, the Philippines, to the point where he is almost like a god." --Lennox Lewis, former heavyweight boxer and HBO commentator. This quote was taken from Manny's autobiography, Pac-man: My Story of Hope, Resilience, and Never say Never Determination.(Pac-man)

II. Purpose: For the next 5-6 minutes I'm going to inform my audience about the living legend who is Manny Pacquiao III. Thesis: More specifically, the Boxer, the Philanthropist and the Politician.

BODY I

A. The 5'6" "PacMan" Pacquiao has (53W-3L-2D, 38 KOs) 1.He has been world champion twelve time. a. He has set records in eight different weight classes a1. Has a record for being in eight different weight classes as well.
B. The Boxing Writers Association of America named him"Fighter of the Year" three times, (Pac-man) 1. He is their "Fighter of the Decade . a. From 2000-2009. 2. He's also revered as their best pound for pound fighter.
C. For his first fight Manny earned less the 2 dollars at the age of 12 . 1. He ran home to give the dollar to his mother for rice.
D. His rise from abject poverty to the pinnacle of his sport makes him an idol and unifying force for Filipinos .
E. When Manny fights the entire country of over 96 million people comes to a virtual standstill.

Transition Statement: I'n an interview with Alex Kay, a writer for the British mail magazine, in an article call It's top secret: Manny Pacquiao "When I fight the crime rate in the Philippines drops like crazy during the fight. At first I thought it was a
