Manchurian Candidate Analysis
The Manchurian Candidate showed me how corrupt a government can actually be, and how as Americans we are all brainwashed to a certain extent. Soldiers were taken an manipulated and use to carry out government actions that were deemed necessary to rid society of communism and people who believed in it. This makes the viewer wonder about government corruption, and serious of events that have occurred from 1989-2016, and conspiracy theories that seem to plague the internet. The people that we appoint in higher positions have secret agenda and go about with manipulatives ways to control their citizens.
Government Scandals and corruption are nothing new to the public, scandals have been going on for years the earliest one being when Thomas Jefferson was said to have had relations and

Only had her interest at heart, yes she was campaigning and plotting to ensure her husband would win, but at what cost? She was manipulating her own son and abusing her power which is what normally happens in politics. Even the scene where she went in to kiss him, she literally tried to make out with him, it was disgusting. I’m still bewildered as to why the returning soldiers were inspected after being captured by the enemy, and exactly how the chip wasn’t detected sooner. How a person on the senate could have so much power, this reminds of when individuals say even though our president may think he has the highest position but, in actuality congress holds all the cards. That’s why I believe that congress and those who serve should have rules to only 2 terms like the president. Another thing that shocked was that even thou they were conditioned and brainwashed when Raymond came back his hate for his mom and step dad was still there, the first scene with them he seemed utterly

The Conspirator is a movie made in 2010 directed by Robert Redford. The whole point of making this movie was to bring history to life. The Manchurian Candidate was originally a novel written by Richard Condon, and then made into film in 1962. It is a story about an American soldier, Sgt. Raymond Shaw, fighting in the Korean War when his troop is ambushed by the Chinese as a result of an oriental translator convincing them to cross in a single line. Raymond Shaw and his troop are air lifted to a POW camp where they are the centre of a brainwashing program funded by Soviet and Chinese brass. Sgt. Shaw receives hypnotic suggestions to murder two of his troop members, the other men are not able to react as they are in a similar trance. They are all returned to the States with absolutely no recollection of what had took place, further more, the troop members "remember" Sgt. Shaw as a hero who had ultimately saved them while fighting in Korea. Sgt. Shaw receives a medal for his "bravery", soon realizing that his mother has organized this three ring circus as good publicity for his step father - Senator John Iselin. Many of the troop members begin to get terrible nightmares that reveal images of what really transpired while being held captive. Major Bennett Marco's dreams are in fact so vivid that he becomes suspicious of Sgt. Shaw and decides to inform his military unit of his fears. The case is investigated and Major Marco is asked to do some less strenuous work, public relations, but is unable to perform and receives an indefinite sick leave. In his New York apartment, Raymond reads a letter from another member; Corporal Melvin about his "terrible dreams" and fears of going crazy. When the phone rings, Sgt. Shaw answers and the programming code that sets him off is triggered by a male voice: "Raymond, why don't you pass the time by playing a little solitaire"? Robotically, Raymond begins dealing from a deck. When he turns up the Queen of Diamonds during the card game, it unlocks or activates the key to his brainwashed mind and opens him up to obey any suggestion. Sgt. Shaw is asked to come in for a…

This movie was really eye opening, while I don't claim to really understand the mentality of why communists were so vilified, the way such innocent seeming people were treated is deplorable. This movie makes me think of a quote from the movie The Boondock Saints, "But, there is another kind of evil which we must fear most … and that is the indifference of good men!" Many times it seems that people are allowed to get away with misdeeds simply because enough people did not stand up against them. In the movie, it seems that people are either too scared to stand up against the blacklisting for fear of being blacklisted themselves or they have already been blacklisted, thus their opinion is irrelevant, as they are seen as traitors.…

It is clear by the manner in which each narrative is shaped that the producers of the films are making a very clear statement on the role of corruption in politics – the political system is almost irreparably damaged and convoluted. Unless the system changes and undergoes major systematic changes, which would be near-impossible given the extensive system of checks and balances in the US government, the corrupt political network will continue to grow and worsen in…

I already knew that the United State’s government system is corrupt. In particular, it talked about Bill Clinton’s presidency. Bill Clinton’s presidency was from January 20, 1993-January 20, 2001. As we all know, Bill Clinton was impeached from office due to obstruction of justice and perjury. Bill Clinton established the Clinton Foundation in which it was a non profit organization that helped. The FBI is currently under investigation with this foundation. They suspect that the Clinton foundation donations went to Hillary Clinton as she was secretary of state during Obama’s presidency. It’s interesting how politicians can tell our country something that sounds great, but in turn it tends to be corrupt and damaging. There is always a catch to everything. Although a certain group of people benefit from the idea, there are always people who have to make up for it. For example, the idea of free healthcare sounds great. There is no such thing as free. Money has to come from somewhere. In this case, the minorities would be getting free healthcare and the middle class and upper class citizens would have their taxes increase to make up for the minority’s free healthcare. This shows that our government is corrupt due to the fact that they deceive people. An example of this is Obama Care. The government deceived people by making them think that there can be such a thing as free healthcare and then go behind the…

There is corruption in the United States Congress. It’s so bad that some congressmen and state legislatives are going away to prison. Almost all of the corruption is either from money or through indictments. Just to think that us as American citizens we have voted these corrupt people into office. They’re offering no help to our country only negative things.…

Corruption has been in the government in many forms since our founding but not until the 70’s has such corruption unfolded before our very eyes. Public distresses that caused an uproar in the media such as Watergate or some of the scandalous accusations at president 42. Other forms of corruption have been seen in every presidency since the Nixon administration and probably in every presidency before. This brief paper intends to look at some of them, both the obvious and the not-so-well known. Watergate shook the nation like no other scandal could.…

Scandals, never really a matter but did this not mean that they were non-existent. Scandals do exist in the United States the biggest scandals are the one where everybody is involved I’m referring to the presidential scandals. Society took notice of how government was keeping information a secret. So U.S citizens dove in deeper to the political region to discover these unknown facts. Presidential scandals became more known after LBJ pentagon papers. Then suddenly Nixon’s Water Gate affair took place and the secret Cambodian bombing.…

Political leaders are doing away with transparency and making deals behind the closed doors. Take former United States president Richard Nixon as an example of political corruption in a well-established and powerful democracy. On the 17th of June 1972, several burglars were arrested inside the office of the Democratic National Committee, through the investigation of the FBI, the true nature of the burglary was revealed. The arrested individuals were found to have been working for President Richard Nixon’s reelection campaign, and were accused of attempting to steal documents belonging to democratic presidential nominees as well as wiretapping the offices and phones of government officials. While president Nixon could not be directly linked to the actions of the burglars, president Nixon was made to resign after allegations of a cover up and obstruction of justice.…

There were many themes incorporated into this film. First, one major theme was to not always go by what one hears. For example, in the beginning, Edward Murrow took on a case about this military man who was forced out of the military because someone in his family was supposedly a communist. However, there was no proof ever reviewed. The judge was handed an envelope but its contents were never reviewed. Eventually, he was reinstated back into the military when the accusations were proven invalid. There was no reason he should have been taken out in the first place.…

Corruption is lurking around the corner, waiting for the perfect time to pounce on innocent people. Abuse of power is everywhere, like cockroaches hiding under your couch, once you see one you know they’re everywhere. Watch out, keep your wits about you and don’t trust anybody. Many superior people are taking advantage of their role and in a bad way. Do you really want people we should be able to trust being corrupt behind our backs? The book Trash by Andy Mulligan outlines the problems people face dealing with corruption and abuse of power. It includes various examples of inequality, immoral behaviour and abuse of power. Sadly this wretched behaviour is often found in many countries, and many people face it on a daily basis. Who knew somebody could learn so much from a fictional novel.…
