Managing Up Reflection Paper: “Managing Your Boss” Leadership & Organizational Behavior 09/12/13 When looking through the Guide of Managing Up and Across, I looked for a topic that stood out given my past experiences and in doing so I came across Managing Your Boss. It is my personal opinion that managing a boss is vital to one’s personal development and career. In the article Managing Your Boss written by Linda A. Hill and Kent Lineback, I found that the key points they touched on were the relationship with your boss; communication and knowing what type of boss your boss is. Out of the three key points they touched the one I feel that you first have to establish the type of boss your boss is. Knowing the type of boss your boss is important for knowing how to interact or approach with him or her. As the authors put it, is your boss a coach, developer, evaluator or a judge. Once you have established the type of boss your boss is, you can then approach your boss in the manner which suits your boss best. Existentialism is a philosophical movement that began in the 1830’s with Soren Kierkegaard. The movement also developed during the period of time between the first and second world wars (1914 – 1950). However, the philosophy of existentialism attained great popularity after the close of World War II, thanks in part to the literary endeavors of Albert Camus and Jean-Paul Sartre. The movement began, however, a century earlier in Denmark when Soren Kierkegaard first presented existentialist principles through his writing. Kierkegaard (1813 – 1855) is “generally considered to be the ‘father’ of the movement."[1] However, it was Jean-Paul Sartre (1905 – 1980) who, in modern and post-modern times, contributed largely to the prominence of the movement through his plays and novels which helped to spread existentialist thinking. In addition to Sartre, the following figures are well-known writers also associated with the movement: Albert Camus and Samuel Beckett. These figures have established their ideas broadly and they can be found in their writings, which will be discussed later in this paper.…

Predestination is a Christian doctrine, which falls under the larger philosophical rubric of determinism. Calvinists especially adhere to the doctrine of predestination. There are two aspects to the Calvinist belief in predestination. The first declares that God basically has ordained everything that occurs, or will occur. In regard to salvation, the Calvinist code of predestination is more specific: Scripture teaches that there are certain people – ‘the elect’ – who are chosen by God, through Christ, to be called to Christianity, and thus be saved for eternity. Calvinist interpretations of predestination often get into trouble over issues of free will; indeed, some interrogate the notion of God’s omniscient power to create all events and actions, given the fact that humans clearly possess the power of free will.…

Ever since I can remember people have been asking me this question. A question that is so simple to ask, yet so hard to answer. A question that you may have an answer to at one point, but lose it the next. A question that when really thought about, can spell your future. That question is “what do you want to be?” This question has always given me a hard time, because honestly I never really wanted to give an answer to it. Maybe it’s because I never wanted to limit myself to an answer or maybe I was just never sure of anything and I’m afraid to give a straightforward answer. This is my attempt on trying to word out my “vision” of who and what I want to be.…

Throughout the years we dream of the future. We dream of career and setting goals to become someone. I think of my future every day and ways to make it better. It’s important to know what I want in my life, otherwise I won’t be happy. I am still figuring out who I am and what exactly do I want to dedicate my life to. But my biggest goal in life is to be happy with whatever I’ll be doing. Enjoy life and just simply reach my dreams. I want to get a career, I want to travel the world, I want to explore and understand myself, I want to educate myself as much as possible and eventually I want a family of course. Right now I’m still growing and exploring life, making mistakes and taking chances. I’m trying to find myself in the right place, where I belong. For one thing I am sure of is that I want to be independent. That is why I want to get an education so I could have everything I want. I want to go to college and feel that I am progressing and growing as a human. I try different fields of education to see what will interest me the most. I have good math skills and I do a lot of thinking. I think all the time. I also like drawing, and I draw since I was little. I like doing makeup for others and I dreamed of becoming a fashion designer before. And since all of those things are so different, I’m not sure which way I want to go in life. As an option I’m thinking to go into business field or management because I believe there are many opportunities in this field. I will always find the job if I need to. But I wouldn’t give up other things that I like to do. While going to college and deciding who I want to become as a specialist, I am planning to go to the beauty school also. I want to take courses for makeup artistry. I always do makeup for all of my friends. And I think it would be great to have a hobby that brings me money. So while I’ll be studying at college I would be working somewhere by doing makeup for others so it benefits me in both ways. After two years…

As I’ve read and analyze the quotation, what I understand in teaching a person “how to learn” means: As a teacher we should help the learners with all our best to become successful in their near future. In short, we have to teach the learners in holistic way that will help them understand not only their studies instead to apply their prior knowledge and experiences to a real life situation. To become a successful person in the future that has moral values, dignity, ethics, and with professional…

The article is titled “Logically Social” on which it tackles the role played by Logic in man's social being. As I study man's social being, I have learned that it will involve language, the fundamental tool for communication. A good example is a relationship between speakers and listeners whereas the speakers must establish the truth of what they say and express and uses reasoning as a way of relating to listeners and the listeners play their part by understanding the message we receive and like the speakers they use reasoning as the means of analyzing the intended meaning of the speaker. Reasoning is one of the objects of study in Logic, which is a fundamental learning to me.…
