CHAPTER I
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction
An organization is a social unit of people that is structured and managed to meet a need or to pursue collective goals. All organizations have a management structure that determines relationships between the different activities and the members, and subdivides and assigns roles, responsibilities, and authority to carry out different tasks. Association of Computer Technology Students (ACTS) is an organization of Bachelor in Industrial Technology, Major in Computer Technology in Bulacan State University which is making project to develop and improve the skills of Computer Technology students.

But Computer Technology Students are growing in terms of their population. Which are the officers of the Association of Computer Technology Student (ACTS) is having a difficult time in managing the organization. By doing the manual procedure counting and encoding the name of the new or old student that are join as a member of the organization, for those want to avail the items.

That’s why, the proponents is proposing this Association of Computer Technology Students (ACTS) Management System to lessen the difficulty in managing the organization.

Objectives of the Study
The general objective of the study is to develop “Association of Computer Technology Management System”
Specifically, this study sought answers to the following question:

1.) To incorporate the following into the project:
1.1 Hardware:
PC unit
Barcode Scanner
LCD Touchscreen Monitor
1.2 Software:
VB.NET
Softxpand

2.) To integrate the following functions into the system:

2.4
3.) To be acceptable the project in terms of the following criteria: 3.1 Functionality;
3.2 Reliability;
3.3 Usability;
3.4 Maintainability;
3.5 Portability;
3.6 Workability;
3.7 Safety; and
3.8 Training and Documentation
