Management Skill Set Assessment
Management Skill Set Assessment

While taking this Management Skill Set Assessment I found six areas to be non-applicable to my current area of training. My manager agreed that those areas were not-applicable but he had a few other areas that he found to be not applicable. The other areas that he identified were shocking to me because I thought they were very important in my daily duties. These shocking areas included planning, prioritizing and organizing task and activities, time management, self and team. He dismissed this one because of the word team, but I on the other hand felt it is important because there is always a project that pops up on top of my daily duties that I have to prioritize. Another area that he said was not-applicable

For ten years I worked in a collectivism culture driven by high power distance, charismatic and team oriented leadership where managers had the ability to expect high performance outcomes, motivate and build effective teams for common purposes, and employees had low engagement in making decisions. I moved overseas and over the past five years I have been working in an individualistic culture driven by autonomous leadership, low power distance and encouragement of more open discussions to solve problems.…

Management believes that they understand their products and customers better than any outsourcing company; therefore Dello should provide customer service in-house. Ideally, Dello’s customer service department wants to handle all the customer phone calls. During peak hours, however, Dello receives so many customer calls that they ask an outsourcing company, Telemate, to help handle incoming calls. Dello’s switchboard system is programmed in the following way; A customer calls Dello at its 1-800 number.
