Individual Work Week 1 – Part 1
Identify which of the focus organizations you would most like to work for. Explain your reasoning.
Conduct Internet research on that organization and describe it from the perspective of the four components that make up the systems framework (tasks, people, technology, and structure). Groupon is the focus organization I would most like to work for. Its mission is to give the best deals to its customers and the best advertising to its merchant partners which appeals to my personal values and frugal nature. Essentially, Groupon is a forward-thinking company who assists both the buyer and seller with successful business and purchasing practices. (Groupon, 2015) As a company, Groupon has four components of a system framework which includes task or mission, people or employees, technology or knowledge and structure or work design. (Nelson, 2013) Groupon’s mission is to “offer consumers a vast marketplace of unbeatable deals all over the world.” (Groupon, 2015) There is a “Groupon Promise” that guarantees a refund if you contact them within fourteen days of an unsatisfactory voucher use. The employees of Groupon are innovative, imaginative and make it their goal to solve any problems of their customers or merchant partners. There are rewards and incentives offered to those who excel in customer service. This company’s technology is cutting edge with an advanced website, easy-to-use mobile application, vast website inventory and a pleasant shopping experience. Groupon is always striving to improve their services for both buyers and sellers. Their work structure contains a system of leaders and organizational design. CEO Eric Lefkofsky, who is a co-founder of the company, inspires his employees to perform with the utmost best customer service possible.
