Malala Yousafzai Should Not Win the Nobel Peace Prize Malala Yousafzai is a girl from Pakistan who was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize because she called for female education. She should not win the Nobel Peace Prize because she did not make the world more peaceful and the other nominee, OPCW, is more suitable for the prize.
First, Malala Yousafzai 's actions did not make the world more peaceful. Young girls in Pakistan are still fearful when they attend school (Maza 2013). Malala was attacked by the Taliban because she called for female education. This is the reason that made Malala famous, but it did not make the world more peaceful. Instead, it caused additional fear within her local community. What she did is certainly very brave on her part, but it’s not appropriate to give her the Nobel Peace Prize. …show more content…
OPCW started to destroy Syria’s chemical weapons around the battlefields of Syria 's civil war. OPCW’s extensive efforts to eliminate chemical weapons surely deserve the Nobel Peace Prize (Walker 2013). The world will be more peaceful if there are less chemical weapons. OPCW’s actual contribution towards peace is definitely more appropriate to win the Nobel Peace Prize than Malala’s actions. For these reasons, Malala Yousafzai should not win the Nobel Peace Prize. She has to make the world more peaceful and make actual contribution toward peace to achieve this
