What do you think is the most important emerging issue in the design of work? An important emerging issue that can be found in design of work is balancing a healthy and productive work environment. In the 1990’s due to economic and industry-specific upheavals in the United States job loss and unemployment led to adverse health. Now companies must struggle with creating health yet productive work environments to help their employee’s psychological health. It is important for companies to create this type of atmosphere especially in these days when the economic situation is so poor. People need to feel a sense of security in what they are doing at work so that they work can in a more productive way. Having the stress of perhaps not feeling essential to the company may lead employees to be frequently stressed out and agitated. Having a stressed out employee is never beneficial to a company. Coca-Cola’s approach to creating a healthy work environment starts with placing every employee with a job that seems to be created just for them. This allows the employee to feel essential and be proactive about their job. When an employee can feel that something like their role in the company is vital to the function of day to day operations then they will feel empowered and have a good sense of self worth and value. Discuss the most likely organizational design for Coca-Cola Company. Job characteristics theory is the design that best fits Coca-Cola Company. Job characteristic model is the frame work for understanding person-job fit through the interaction of core job dimensions with critical psychological states within a person.
