Introduction
In this report for the subject of Leadership in Asia, Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, the fourth prime minister of Malaysia has been chosen because he is simply an outstanding and commendable leader. This spectacular individual’s characteristics and the personal sides of this leader will be discussed and elaborated based on leadership managerial concepts, methods, purposes as well as the tremendous impact of power and influence in leadership of this local icon in the country of Malaysia, will be written on. Dr. Mahathir was a very intelligent man who knew and was much well aware of the know-how’s to build credibility as a leader on his own and he also seemed to possess the necessary skills to communicate, influence and in dominating change in not just Malaysia, but to the extent of including other countries of Asia. The final learning objective that will be included in this report is the ‘real-life’ experiences which are seemingly abundant looking at the success life of this icon and his carrying-out of leadership skills and styles will not be left out. A man made of steel that has undergone and overcame many internal and external criticisms but somehow managed to build Malaysia to be the celebrated nation that it is today is who we call Datuk Seri Mahathir bin Mohamad.
Early Background of Dr. Mahathir Mohamad
Born on the 20th December 1925, Dr. Mahathir happened to be a son of a schoolmaster of low socio-economic status. Tun had two full siblings and six-half siblings. He studied medicine at King Edward VII College in Singapore, now known as the National University of Singapore (Anonymous, 2011). Upon graduation, he worked as a government medical officer for a while but left in 1957 to set up his own practice in Alor Setar. Married to a doctor, Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah bt Mohd Ali, Tun Dr. Mahathir’s passion is in writing. He started writing while in school. In the 1940s and '50s, under the pen name "Che Det", he actively wrote articles on Malay

    Dr Mahathir was Malaysia's fourth Prime Minister and he worked very hard to develope our country since the day he was appointed as the Prime Minister. Dr M served as the prime minister of Malaysia for 22 years. He created a concept called VISION 2020, where by the year 2020 Malaysia is expected to be a fully developed country. He called upon the entire citizens of Malaysia to work harder and to prepare themselves to really achieve that vision. In the field of literature, Dr Mahathir has contributed greatly since his schooling days. Due to his great interest in writing, Dr Mahathir was an editor of a magazine called Darulaman. Other than that, Dr Mahathir successfully handled the financial crisis 1997 and stabilized the Malaysian economy. All schools were equipped with computers with the help of Dr Mahathir.
