Magic Johnson In The Sports World
Magic Johnson.

Have you ever thought about the people that affect this society? Even the smaller, less famous ones? I'm guessing not much. Well here’s one of the sports world favorites, Magic Johnson. During and, even after he was in the NBA, he won over 11 awards! The awards ranged from MVP awards to Corporate Citizen awards. After he retired from the National Basketball Association he was caring and started speaking up about safety. He talked to many kids born with Human Immunodeficiency

How can one person make a difference? In William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, Brutus helps the conspirators kill Caesar because they were scared that he would want to become dictator of everything and become powerful. His assassination caused a big civil war and that led to a lot of deaths. Another example is Antigone in Sophocles’ Antigone; her two older brothers fought over power, but ended up dying; only one brother was buried, though. Antigone’s stand against such injustice supports divine law, but results in her imprisonment. Each of these individuals makes an impact on everyone in their societies, proving that one person can indeed make a difference.…

In the great span of human history there have been the few to rise up against the common ideals and bring forth innovative creations that changed the course of humanity. They don’t have to be professionals, highly educated, or from wealthy, noble families. They need only the drive to fulfill a purpose, prove a point, and change lives. Henry David Thoreau, a well-noted polymath of the 1800s, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a pivotal African-American activist, spoke about the necessity for change in their time in influential ways.…

When I think of the ability to influence, one of the first topics that comes to mind is when a certain individual brings awareness to all of society. Ryan White, a teenager from Indianapolis, created a face for AIDS awareness which differed from the previously believed carriers of the disease when he died in April of 1990. He was the first child to contract the disease and create a frenzy of fear of how the disease could be transmitted. After being denied admittance to many public schools due to fear of him spreading AIDS to other students, he was finally accepted and welcomed by a small farm town in Cicero, Indiana. He was denied previously due to the fact that many were uninformed of the ways AIDS could be spread. While Ryan contracted the disease through a contaminated blood treatment for his hemophilia, many believed it to be contracted only through the bodily fluids of gay men, the most commonly known AIDS contractors. After many legal battles with the school system and national media coverage, he was allowed admittance to the school. He later died five months before his graduation. Even though it was a short life, it was an important one. His life and disease created awareness for all of America that would change the way we look at people diagnosed with AIDS. Through his story the US government was able to create the Ryan White Act, which is currently the largest provider of relief for AIDS patients.…

It is frequently said that good thinkers are born, not made. Although there is an element of truth to that statement, the idea is essentially false (Ruggiero, 2009). The one thing though that everyone can agree to; is the world would has become the product of the efforts, accomplishments, and even failures of men and women everywhere. More specifically, the men and women whose ideas helped shape the world what it is today. Of course that does not mean that every great thinker contributed in a positive way. But the ones who did, and still are, will continue to make this world worth living in. Two very notable men, in recent history, have contributed to society in a variety of ways. One of which is still alive and continuing to do great things even today. Those men are Martin Luther King Jr. and Bill Gates.…

To start with, Ordinary people can change the world with extraordinary ways, and for most of those people change the world with their words, not their fists. To illustrate my point, we fight wars to keep peace, but do we ever wonder what would it be like if instead of fighting those wars, we can sit down and explain why we are mad at a certain country. On the other hand, people use their words to show us our mistakes that we do in life and that the society thinks it is correct to do. For example, Prince EA is a leader that sees the world in a different way that most of people don’t want to see it. To support my opinion, Prince EA once said, “Call me crazy, but I imagine a world where we smile when we have low batteries, because that will mean…
