Introduction
Handsome, tenderness, strong, and active those are the ideas that come to mind when the word "prince" comes out. People think about a prince as a person who is perfect such that he is a hero, defeats his nation against enemies, and helps citizens. This is the definition of a prince in the function stories. Can a prince be that wonderful in real life? The purpose of having a leaders is to set performance for nation's benefits, cooperation with people for general advantages, and organize the community. Therefore, my argument is that leaders, like princes, are responsible to lead the community into order or disorder. If a leader is good enough, he could guide his country to order. He is the one who is responsible
I am arguing that even if people will be the cause of disorder, the big influence is the leader on the country he is controlling the state, and should not let the nation to go under disorder and chaos because at the end the leaders are the one who decide. Also, Machiavelli believed that it’s the prince's responsibility to lead his state into order and give the stability to his people. The characteristics of an excellent prince are being respected and feared, good virtues, and intelligent. Discussion As Machiavelli believed, a prince or a leader ought to be feared and respected because it is not his responsibility to be loved or hated. His idea about being respected was because then people will support the prince. A prince cannot take action alone because it is difficult for him without having people's support. Also, people will not revolt against him. He stated that it is better to be clemency rather than cruelty. Machiavelli thought that it is good for a prince to be feared by people. This means, Machiavelli stated that it is not fortune and wickedness which leads to a good prince; it is intelligence and skills which are important. To be specific, he can try to strength its own military to defeat his nation during war rather than concerning himself by relies on others. Also, a prince should be himself and did not change. To illustrate, he should live with his people so that any unexpected circumstances will not make him change weather the situation is good or bad. An example for what show the connection between intelligence, skills, and change in prince is the king Agathocles. King Agathocles did not become a prince by fortune, but he got this position because he was intelligence and he had skill. However, when he got the position, he started to use violence (Machiavelli, 1515, p. 37& 74). According to Machiavelli, "One morning he assembled the people and senate of Syracuse, as if he had to discuss with them things relating to the Republic, and at a given signal the soldiers killed all the senators and the richest of the people; these dead, he seized and held the princedom of that city without any civil commotion (Machiavelli, 1515, p. 38). So, this shows that intelligence and skill are important to be a leader; however, it is not necessary to be cruel just because fortune was not the reason why the person became a prince. My
