The partnership between parents and carers responsibility for children’s education and development has only been recognised as important in the last forty years in this country. Before then children had no induction into school and parents were not invited in unless there was a problem or it was parents evening. Home and School were seen as two different entities and it hadn’t become apparent how much they could gain from each other. In the past children were just put on a bus if they didn’t live within walking distance and sent off to school for a full day with no integration and then sent back home on a bus back to their carers/ parents. Today things couldn’t be more different. Parents in our setting are invited to visit the school during a normal working day to see the classes in action. They have the choice of bringing their child with them to see how they react with the school. If they decide that our school is in their child’s best interest we then offer a home visit by the teacher who will be in their class. This can also involve the parent support officer for our…

It is the Polices job to investigate a crime when it is reported, but it is within the Polices discretionary powers to decide whether or not to investigate a particular offence, for example, under the Evidence Act 1995, the police will not investigate allegations of a crime unless the value of the offence is very high. Not every crime will undergo investigation as it is a time consuming and costly process. This job of investigation is under the Polices discretion as their involvement within the criminal trial process is the arrest and charge of the alleged offender. As an investigation continues, the police must judge who should be contacted and what places should be examined for more evidence. Police discretion in this aspect plays a vital role in the sentencing of the suspect as the more evidence gathered for the trial could determine the…

At Duncanville High School World History class the teacher Julie Phung had been lack in teaching her student all year. But one day student Jeff Bliss got fed up with her teaching strategies and decided to give his opinion about the way she teach and encourage her to teaching a different strategies that she learn them. If you can just get up and teach them instead of handing them a freakin’ packet, yo (Bliss, 2013). There are kids in here who don’t learn like that, they need to teach face-to-face (Bliss, 2013). This was not a set up but the student Jeff Bliss was tired and angry about the way he was learning so he did something about it. The students can benefits from teaching if you have effective strategies and teacher need to improve her way of teaching. Student Jeff Bliss will lose because he will get suspended and teacher will get view by the board. The position I take on this issue that student Jeff Bliss should not confront her in public but wait until after class in a calm voice. I believe she did great by telling him to leave but not saying that any student are waste her time.…

Teachers, police officers etc. are being charged with statutory rape, people who are supposed to be the leaders of this country. According to a news report in The Daily Times a 23-year old Jordan Harris was arrested for having sexual relations with one of his 16-year old students at his home. But later released on a 25,000 bond. If someone is employed to be a teacher, then all students should not be looked at as someone they can mess around with. Schools are a place to learn and be protected by the school staff, not to be preyed on. In this particular case Jordan Harris was already once in trouble with another school district for allegations of messing with another minor student. If he was already on the spotlight for this once before then why was he giving another chance at a different school? The schools should take more precautions before hiring people. This man was in a student teacher program and they weren’t even sure that he was a graduate of the…
