King Duncan, Malcolm, Donalbain and Lennox wait for news on the battle. A sergeant enters and is covered in blood and battle wounds, King Duncan believes that he can offer news on the battle. The sergeant tells him how the war between the Scottish and Norwegians is going. King Duncan gets told that two noble Scottish men have showed courage in the battle (Macbeth and Banqou) CHARACTERS INCLUDED

King Duncan has been blind to the Thane of Cawdor’s treachery.

Macbeth becomes the new Thane of Cawdor.
Violence is shown in this scene because of the war and the blood that is on the solider when he walks in to talk to King Duncan.

The three witches relay their prophecy onto the Scottish generals Macbeth and his best friend Banqou Three witches announce they do not kill people can mess up their lives and are trouble makers. They are unforgiving in this sense. Macbeth finds out he is to be named Thane of Cawdor and will later become king and Banquo learns his sons will become kings although he is going to become one himself. Angus turns up to fulfill the first part of the witches prophecy announcing Macbeth as Thane of Cawdor Macbeth is hesitant to be called upon his new name as he believes the previous Thane still lives upon his title. But learns he has been sentenced to death.
