Dear ,

I have something very solemn our good Lord, Banquo was murdered a few days ago at Macbeth’s feast. The murder was before the dinner when everyone was walking in. He was killed at one of the side doors of the place. Banquo and Fleance had just returned from a night of riding. Macbeth appeared to be deeply disturbed. Banquo’s son Fleance was able to escape the murderers. Macduff is suspicious of our King. He did not attend the feast tonight. I am starting to agree with him after tonight’s events.
Tonight at Macbeth’s feast, a lot of strange things happened. Macbeth seemed frightened about something. As we were all about to start the dinner Macbeth did something strange.

Macbeth is arguably one of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies. Written sometime between 1603 and 1606, the play is strongly written with King James the first’s of England’s interests in mind; the supernatural. Because of this we are introduced to the idea of the paranormal and witchcraft straight way in the play with the three. This would have scared a Jacobean audience as they feared the supernatural; it also foreshadows the likeliness of disturbed characters to be introduced later in the play.…

My son Malcolm informed me today that the former Thane of Cawdor has died. In my opinion, he got what he deserved after he arrogantly betrayed us. But before dying he asked for my forgiveness and he was deeply sorry. I shall never forgive that traitor and may he burn in hell for his disloyalty. He is a disgrace to his clan and all of Scotland. After a while, my subjects, including Macbeth came. I was so happy with Macbeth, what he did can never be repaid. I praised him in front of my subjects, so they can view him as role model. Banquo's actions were also good but they cannot be compared to Macbeth's actions . Before they left, I made an important announcement. I've declared my son Malcolm to be heir to the throne. From now on he'll be the…

“You lack the season of all natures, sleep” (III.iv.73), spoken by Lady Macbeth, shows how sleep can mess with a person’s judgment. Ever since Macbeth murdered Duncan, he has been so guilty that he couldn’t sleep. Since he is so sleep deprived, his judgment is impaired. He is paranoid and is killing people left and right. He is so fearful that everyone is trying to overthrow him that he resorts to killing his close friend, Banquo. “There’s blood upon thy face/ ‘Tis Banquo’s then” (III.iv.13-15) is when Macbeth confirms the murder of Banquo from the ‘hit man’ he hired. He was paranoid that because of the witches’ prophecy about Banquo’s descendants becoming king, that Banquo would…

William Shakespeare 's Macbeth has always been considered one of the literary worlds most celebrated tragedies. It is arguably the darkest and most gruesome of his plays. And until recently we were satisfied with that… At the Cannes Film Festival in 2001, a low budget comedy was unveiled. It was called Scotland, PA. I am not that same boy you knew, fifteen years can really change a person. Ten years ago, you sent me a letter blaming me for Simon and Piggy’s deaths, and everything else that happened on the island. I didn’t respond back then because I was in the Seminary and was trying to worship god and put all that happened on the island behind me. I’m writing you this letter now because I am about to become a priest and I feel that I need to clear things up as a last act before I start my new life. This way I can start out with a clean slate.…

Macbeth, after hearing the prophecies the three witches gave him, becomes conflicted within himself, ‘If chance shall have me King, why, chance may crown me, without my stir’. Ultimately, Macbeth chooses ambition over morality, but not without pressure from his wife ‘Are you a man?’ and severe inner turmoil ‘My thought, whose murder yet is but fantastical’. To contrast the devious character of Macbeth, Shakespeare included Banquo, a fellow noblemen and Macbeth’s closest friend, to act as Macbeths foil. He immediately chooses morality over ambition without question and forewarns Macbeth of the Weird Sisters and their ability to twist the truth: ‘instruments of darkness tell us truths, win us with honest trifles, to betray’s in deepest consequence’. Banquo’s undying allegiance to King Duncan demonstrations the difference between Macbeth and Banquo, and how the upkeep of morals keep us in check. After choosing power, Macbeth’s suspicion of Banquo and his role in the prophecy leads to Banquo’s murder. After killing his friend, Macbeth is plagued with guilt, and hallucinations become recurrent for both Macbeth; ‘our graves must send those we bury back’ and his wife; ‘will these hands ne’er be clean?’ This shows that ambition can lead to immoral acts when overcome by desire.…

William Shakespeare in The Tragedy of Macbeth written in the 17th century dramatizes the tragic hero and Macbeth’s tragic flaw of ambition, which ultimately results in his downfall. Shakespeare wrote this play to show how too much ambition can have adverse consequences on the human condition. This tragedy follows the true story of a historical Macbeth, an eleventh century king of Scotland who usurped the throne after killing his predecessor. In The Tragedy of Macbeth, ambition is Macbeth’s tragic flaw that permeates the dramatic structure. The tragic flaw serves to develop him as a character over the course of the play. Macbeth begins the play as a very strong and well respected and honored man and develops into a very evil person and ends the play meeting his death with courage and bravery. His ambition causes these developments. Shakespeare used Macbeth’s tragic flaw and his development over the course of the play to portray the theme of too much ambition can cause someone to do awful things they wouldn’t do otherwise.…
